A NOTE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

There was a rumor that summer is our slow season - let me bust that myth.  Summer at the OAS warehouse in town is fun, exciting and a bit hectic at times.  During the summer we have a constant flow of visitors, gathering for program activities, social gatherings, and organizing activities for Bigstock; our annual fundraiser.  Already this summer we have hosted our PPP pre-pizza party, a check presentation from 100+Women Who Care Central Oregon and several private hand-cycle consultations.  Most days we are preparing for, or engaged in activities with participants off-site somewhere in beautiful Central Oregon, and with our new OAS bus we hope to put in lots of miles.  Summer at OAS means good times.  And... remember to buy your Bigstock tickets!

AN PUMPKIN INTO A GOLDEN CARRIAGE

*This is not our actual golden carriage.  We hope to purchase a bus like this one!

On May 12, the local Bend Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care voted to award OAS their collective donation of $100 from each member adding up to $28,000.  The funds donated will be used to purchase OAS's first accessible bus allowing us to offer a broader range of programs at a lower cost.  OAS hopes to have the van purchased no later than mid-June because it will help with the efficiency of our Summer Youth Programs.  Toot your horns when you see our new ride on the roads!

Help support OAS in their continuous mission to provide life-changing outdoor recreation experiences to individuals with disabilities.  Participants gain confidence, build self-esteem and strive for independence leading to an enhanced quality of life.

Much of our adaptive equipment is expensive but extremely necessary for it provides an even playing field for people with disabilities.  Dedicated staff members are needed to carry on the working knowledge and benefits of outdoor recreation.  Most importantly, life-changing experiences are provided at a subsided rate through scholarships thanks to the support of donors like you.
