The Public Law Center's South East Asian Legal Outreach Program (SEALOP) provides free civil legal assistance at the BPSOS Center for Community Advancement, Inc., 13950 Milton Ave. Suite 301, Westminster, CA 92683.    
Clinics take place on the second Saturday of every month from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Volunteer attorneys and Vietnamese-English translators are needed.

Deadline May 31st - 2018 NASALSA Conference Scholarship 
The North American South Asian Law Students Association ("NASALSA") wants to see you at their 20th Annual Conference in New York City! NASALSA will grant scholarships to help students with the cost of attendance. Scholarships may amount up to $300-400 each and may be used to cover travel and living expenses during the Conference. Scholarship recipients will be announced the week of June 4, 2018.
 
If you would like to apply, please submit a current resume and statement of interest detailing 1) Why you are interested in attending the NASALSA Conference, and 2) What expenses you anticipate to attend the Conference (airfare, hotel, train ticket, etc). Statements of interest should be limited to 500 words.
 
Applications should be submitted to Roshni Advani, NASALSA President at [email protected] by May 31, 2018. Only a certain number of scholarships are available and students are encouraged to seek other sources of funding to assist with the cost of attendance.

On Thursday, June 14, 2018, nearly 1,000 leaders from the Orange County legal, business and civic communities will gather for the Public Law Center's annual Volunteers for Justice Dinner. Please join PLC for an inspiring event that also provides an opportunity to support the over 1,400 volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students who work with us to provide free legal services to low income residents. APPLICATION DEADLINE June 15th - 2019 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship
Baker Donelson is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where the individual differences among individuals are understood, respected, appreciated, and recognized as sources of strength of the Firm, believing these qualities enrich the working environment.

With this in mind, Baker Donelson announces that the 2019 Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship application is now available. Three scholarships will be awarded to three diverse rising 2L law students who will complete their first year of law school by June 2018. Recipients will be awarded a six-week, salaried 2L Summer Associate position for the summer of 2019 in one of the Firm's offices. Additionally, each recipient will be awarded $10,000, which will be paid prior to the student's third year of law school, to help defray the cost of law school tuition and related expenses.

June 22nd - CWL 5th Annual "Elect to Run"
This non-partisan program was developed and organized by California Women Lawyers ("CWL") to educate and encourage women to run for public office. The program allows attendees the opportunity to hear from candidates, elected officials and organizations who provide tools and support for running for office. This innovative program received the 2016 Outstanding Member Program from the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations. Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Women's Museum of California, San Diego.
   
October 7th-12th - IBA Annual Conference Rome 2018
The 2018 International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference will be held in Rome, the Eternal City. Founded nearly 3,000 years ago, the city is renowned for its ancient ruins, classical architecture, renaissance palazzos and baroque fountains. Rome is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city and will provide an elegant backdrop for the IBA Annual Conference.

The San Francisco office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, a full service law firm, is seeking for its growing national energy law practice, a senior associate or counsel. The candidate should have at least seven years of regulatory and/or transactional experience; some litigation experience preferred.

The senior associate or counsel will work on cutting-edge energy matters, including in the renewable energy and clean tech spaces, and encompassing financing, commercial, and mergers and acquisitions. The energy group represents clients in a wide variety of regulatory proceedings, corporate transactions, commercial disputes, and administrative proceedings. He or she will interact directly with clients, have first chair responsibilities, and be given the training and resources to begin developing their own clients.

Candidates must have a J.D. and be a current, in good standing, or pending member of the California State Bar. Homeless Action Center Seeks Staff Attorneys
Homeless Action Center (HAC) is a community-based legal services program founded in 1990 to provide legal services to homeless people in Alameda County.  Over time, HAC's specialty became public benefits advocacy, with a focus on Social Security disability benefits. The process of qualifying for disability benefits can be lengthy and difficult. Employing a client-centered focus and harm reduction principles, Staff Attorneys work closely with other legal services programs and social services programs to assist clients in meeting their emergency and longer-term needs during this process. Although this is a great entry level job, applicants who have been practicing law for some time are welcome to apply. HAC practices public benefits advocacy, but no experience in that area of the law is necessary.
