Registration for the  Ontario East Municipal Conference 2017  is now open! 
The conference is being held at the Ambassador Hotel and Conference Centre,  Kingston  on  Wednesday, September 13th to Friday, September 15th.  For more information, please see below under Ontario East Events

Last week, the Ontario East Advanced Manufacturing Sector Team attended the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Expo in Toronto, on May 16-18. The Expo is Ontario's leading design and manufacturing event. Thank you to the sector team members who participated and represented Ontario East. 

Both the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and the Town of Cobourg have some exciting news to share. Please see Ontario East News for more details.

OMAFRA Analyst Input-Output Modelling Training-  Registration Open

9:00am-3:00pm, Tuesday, June 20th at Sandfield Centre, in Alexandria 

Using data to predict the impact of gaining or losing a business on the regional economy, this session consists of a blended classroom style learning and hands-on training with the Input-Output module in Analyst.

Town of Cobourg Receives Federal Support for Venture 13 Initiative

The Town of Cobourg is pleased to announce support from the Government of Canada and the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) for the development of "Venture 13," a regionally unique, start-up/Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) intensive technology centre.

 Join the Agriculture Economic Development and Planning  Community of Practice!

The  Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA)  and the  Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA)'s Regional Economic Development Branch  have coordinated a network to bring together economic development and planning professionals across Ontario interested in agricultural issues. The quarterly meeting topics will be based on relevant municipal policies, procedures and programming impacting the agricultural sector.

* Voice your challenges and receive feedback from fellow practitioners
* Speak with experts in the field and have your questions answered
* Network with other municipal staff that work on similar issues
* Learn best practices and strategies that you can implement in your community

The next webinar COP meeting,  Understanding Your Agri-Food Community Through Data,  is scheduled for  Monday June 26, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m . featuring how to use data to support municipal agri-food initiatives and highlighting case studies.

For Brockville native Dale Donnelly, when a long-term position came to an end, one that seemed like it could be the job from which he retired, he simply 'pivoted' and chose to become his own boss.
