Winners Circle at Desert Storm Rally 2015
Tingwu Song/Yufeng Hao from China where he has participated in the Chinese Rally Series with the Bailing Rally Team as the #3 driver in a Mitsubishi Lancer won the overall at Desert Storm Rally event #1. He was so ecstatic about winning the event and he was up against some really good stiff competition. Jeff Rados/Warren Kouba was not far behind him with John Black/Lori Stone and Ziad Karanouh from Lebanon with a national co-driver Karen Jankowski. Chris Palmero/Darrin Prescott was going all out and could have easily won Event #1.
This year all events in the Bilstein Southwest RallyCup Series presented by Scrubblades has a new twist. There was at Desert Storm Rally a Power Stage (coefficient 1) that not only did they get a points but one stage to see who can won overall that stage similar as in WRC. Well Jeff Rados/Warren Kouba in their Ford Ranger went all out knowing their truck was having problems and won overall that stage in 7 minutes and 25 seconds over Tingwu Song/Yufeng Hao that only have a 51 second difference and took second place. Ziad Karanouh/Karen Jankowski took third place with only a 24 second difference from second place team. John Black and Lori Stone were only 6 seconds from overtaking Ziad and Chris Palermo/Darrin Prescott just a minute from John Black.
So in conclusion the Power Stage was exciting to watch with all the teams having fun trying to win that stage.
Unfortunately, Brent Lee Motorsports had a ECU problem before the start of the competition. But they are waiting to come back at Mendocino Rally and Rally Utah to get back in the scoring of points in the SWRC and OHPRG series. Along with Johan Bjorkquist/Nick Roder had a electrical problem on stage of Event 1. But were able to get back out to the Power Stage and halfway DNF on the stage. Marcus and Alicia Saarinen had their old suspension in and their new one was not in time for the event. Such great supporters of Desert Storm and the series. They made sure the team was there and gave it a try to finish.
Also all teams competed for the
Storm Attack competition; they gave up their winnings to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. So far we have close to $600.00 in donations to give at the end of the rally season. Plus Tingwu Song donated $100.00's toward the charity.
Everyone that came whether they were volunteers or competitors...fully supported the event and in the end had a great time on the stages as well as at the rally party. All left having a great experience.

Mendocino Rally and Rally Utah Articles: The OHPRG Scoring Results so far are the same as the SWRC series scoring points. That will change with Mendocino Rally that happens July 18/19, 2015 in upper California. As soon as the staff from the Mendocino Rally send information; we will send out a article about the event coming up in July.
In August is Rally Utah - August 7/8 in Cedar City, Utah. We hope to see you all there as well. It will be the premiere event of the brand new rally. This will help out the Colorado teams to have a closer event toward their area. As well as for all SW teams and we would want the PNW teams to be there as well. Cedar City is working hard to make this event a mainstay on their calendar in the future years. We are working on live streaming at this event and media to cover the whole event with pictures and videos.
So another newsletter will be coming out in 2 weeks solely on promoting these two events. Also about series and event sponsors.
