NATIONAL SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR NEWSLETTER, JUNE 2017
Dear Friends of Our Lady of Prompt Succor,
The month of June brings with it the celebration of Pentecost, sometimes called “The Birthday of the Church.” As we are told in the Acts of the Apostles, Mary was in the midst of the gathering of the Apostles on that first Pentecost. May she be in our midst as well as we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s coming to us anew this year. One of my favorite Pentecost hymns is Dan Schutte’s Send Us Your Spirit. Its concluding verse is: Send us good summer, O Lord. Winters have chilled us, and stilled us too long. Give us love’s own fire. Be our true desire. Send us Your Spirit, O Lord.
May each of you enjoy “good summer” and find in God’s love your “true desire.” May Our Lady continue to help and support you on your way. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us!
