The next DC Metroplex BWI Community Roundtable Meeting is scheduled for June 20, 2017 at 7 pm in the Assembly Rooms A/B of MAA Corporate Offices at 991 Corporate Boulevard, Linthicum, MD 21090.
Any concerns may be voiced by residents in a Speak Out that is part of the Agenda.  Meetings last until about 10 pm and there is parking in front of the MAA building.  For more information contact Paul Verchinski.

lifeguard managers from the Stevens Forest, Thunder Hill and Talbott Springs pool will be in attendance for a "meet and greet".   

Bike Lane Discussion:  Chris Eatough, Howard County's Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator will discuss the possible placement of bike lanes on Thunder Hill Road SOUTH of Sohap Lane, and, on Mellenbrook Road between Lightning View Road and Route 108.

Kids ages 5-11 and their parents are invited to bike the pathways of Oakland Mills with officers from HCPD's Pathway Patrol Section.  A brief bicycle safety lesson will be given prior to the ride.

Children ages 9 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult and helmets MUST be worn.

Bugs that Bite:  How to Combat Mosquitoes and Ticks This Summer

Learn about ticks in the area, tick prevention techniques, and how to spot the symptoms of Lyme disease.  This summer is predicted to be a bad year for ticks, so join us and learn ways to protect you and your family from tick-borne diseases.  You will also learn some interesting facts about mosquitoes and how to combat mosquito breeding in your neighborhood.  

Presentation by Danielle Bodner, Environmental Program Assistant, Open Space and Facility Services, Columbia Association.

Exploring Columbia On Foot, Outdoor Walks

The walks will be held on nine Thursdays and on Saturday from March through October.  Most walks will begin at 10 am; the walk at The Mall in Columbia begins at 8:30 am.  Registration is not required.

Community Chess Day

Free Pool Parties for Middle and High School Students
 
Columbia Association's  Youth and Teen Center is hosting two free pool parties this July - one for middle school students and one for high school students. Each pool party will be at Locust Park Pool, 8995 Lambskin Lake in the village of Long Reach, and will include a diving and swimming contest, raffles, music, snacks and more. Registration is required by calling  410-992-3726.
 
Middle school students: Friday, July 7, 7-10pm. Registration deadline: Thursday, July 6 at 5pm.

High school students: Friday, July 14, 7-10pm. Registration deadline: Thursday, July 13 at 5pm.
