The talent show is part of Oakland Mills' 50th Birthday Kickoff Celebration on May 19th. Performance will be at 6:00 p.m. with a dress rehearsal on May 16th at 6:30 p.m.

9:00 a.m. Bike Rodeo for Kids presented by the Howard County Police Path Patrol
10 a.m. Scavenger Hunt around the Village Center,
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at your leisure - "Poker Run" bike, run, skate through the OM Neighborhoods and pick up "poker cards" along the route (this is not a race)
3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Performances by OM Schools
4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Community Picnic with DJ
(face painting, rock painting) Bring a picnic dinner or pick one up from an OM merchant.
6:00 p.m. OM's Got Talent!
Complimentary water and cupcakes. Wine and beer for sale.
Mikes Gelato truck will be on site from 3 - 7:30 pm.

The Ice Rink, located in the Oakland Mills Village Center, is still open for skating! Here's the public skate session schedule:
Monday-Thursday: noon-2 p.m. Friday: 3:30-5:30 p.m., 8-10 p.m. (with live DJ) Saturday: 2-4 p.m. Sunday: 1:15-3:15 p.m., 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The rink will be closed Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day and will close for the summer on June 10th.

Exploring Columbia on Foot
|
Columbia Association's (CA) series of outdoor walks explores the lakes, streams, woodlands and wildlife of Columbia. Each walk is about two miles long, with four to five stops along the way. Registration is not required.
The walks are led by award-winning environmental author Ned Tillman, who guides discussions on the nature, history and future of these wonderful outdoor settings, including the plans for them and challenges they may face in the near future.
All walks begin at 10 a.m. The schedule includes:

- Thursday, May 31, River Hill - meet at River Hill Pool, 6330 Trotter Road

The Howard County Police Department teams up with students to teach the fundamental moves of chess. Skill level doesn't matter, and all students are welcome, whether you are a beginner or a master. CheckMates Chess Club meets every Monday from 4 - 6 pm. at the Barn (YTC). Students must be registered with YTC to join.
