The Orlando Museum of Art Names Miriam Kersey and Christina Owen Volunteers of the Year

 

Orlando, Fla. (May 16, 2012) - The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) honored Miriam Kersey and Christina Owen at a reception this week by naming them OMA Volunteers of the Year.  The OMA is aided by the work of over 2,000 volunteers each year.   

 

Miriam Kersey has been volunteering with the Council of 101 since 1998.  The Council of 101 consists of 101 active members that work to further the cultural development of visual arts in Central Florida. The Council presents two fundraisers for the OMA each year, the Festival of Trees and the Antiques Show and Sale. "In addition to serving on the Council's Board and chairing numerous committees, Miriam has taken the 101 special events to new levels of creativity and excellence in the past several years, " stated Marena Grant Morrisey, Executive Director of the OMA.    

Christina Owen has been volunteering  since 2008 as a docent, camp and special event volunteer. During the fall of 2011 she also volunteered as an intern at the OMA for coursework at Rollins College.  "Christina has been an invaluable asset to OMA's Education Department," stated Jane Ferry, OMA's Education Curator. 
 

The OMA is located in Orlando Loch Haven Park at 2416 North Mills Ave., Orlando, Fla. From I-4 take the Princeton Street exit 85. Drive east on Princeton Street, and at the corner of Princeton and Mills (US Highway 17 / 92), turn left. Go one block to east Rollins Street and turn left.
