Register Now for Municipal Government Day  - Free to OML Members!
Monday, March 16th is the beginning of Municipal Government Week. Join OML and your fellow cities and towns from around the state for a week of activities and events that focus on educating citizens and advocating for municipal government.  The week will begin in Oklahoma City with the presentation of the "If I were Mayor..." essay contest winners, the "Oklahoma Cities and Towns: The Pieces that Form a Great State" video debut as well as an update on legislation affecting cities and towns. OML is also excited to honor our two legislators of the year, Senator Clark Jolley and Representative Charles McCall.  The afternoon will be spent at the Capitol meeting with your legislators and observing the House and Senate in action. There will also be exhibits on the 4th floor in the rotunda and much, much more! And best yet, this event is FREE to OML Members!

OML and OMUP Water and Environment Summit Success
The Summit Attendees learning about Environmental Issues
90 municipal officials and stakeholders from across the state gathered on Friday, February 20th at Rose State College Education and Training Center for OML/OMUP's Annual Water and Environment Summit. Woodward's City Manager, Alan Riffel and the Oklahoma Municipal Utilty Providers (OMUP) Chair facilitated the meeting that began with a presentation by Assistant Secretary of Energy and Environment, Tyler Powell.

Goodwill Tours Continue in Waynoka and Shattuck
OML Executive Director Carolyn Stager recently made some Goodwill Visits to Northwestern Oklahoma.  Her first stop was to the city of Waynoka where she had the opportunity to visit with clerk/treasurer Sharlotte Klein and a couple of other city staff.  After visiting with Ms. Klein, Stager continued to the town of Shattuck where she stopped in to see clerk/treasurer Joan Johnson.

OML's Cathy Pulver Creating OML Archive for the Future
OML Conference in early 1990.
Over a two-year period, OML team members Rachel Bagensie and Cathy Pulver have been of going through the OML archived files and as a result have found various interesting artifacts such as letters signed by J Edgar Hoover and Will Rogers sent to 1960's OML Executive Director, Dave Fudge.

Stager Attends 25 Year Awards Ceremonies
OML's Executive Director Carolyn Stager spent last Wednesday afternoon at the Oklahoma City City Council Meeting where City Manager James Couch presented the 25 year awards to 128 deserving employees who together had a total of 3200 years of service. Oklahoma City currently has 3,221 total employees in the honor roll of service.  On Tuesday night, Stager had the privilege of presenting these awards to employees from Midwest City.  Congratulations to these employees as well as the hundreds of other dedicated city/town employees that work hard to make our communities a better place to live and raise a family.  You can go our website to see the full list of individuals that have been honored with this award over the years.
