"A knock-out performance" - THE PRAGUE POST

Performed in English

Featuring Czech surtitles and translation by Jitka Sloupov

Venus in Fur is the sexiest, funniest evening you will have in Prague! Written by theatrical mastermind DAVID IVES, Venus in Fur introduces us to Vanda, an unusually talented young actress determined to land the lead in Thomas' new play based on the classic erotic novel, Venus in Fur. Vanda's emotionally charged audition for the gifted but demanding playwright/director becomes an electrifying game of cat and mouse that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, love and sex.

with Martin Hilsk and Daniel Dobias

14, 21 October at 19:00
11 November at 19:00

By William Shakespeare and Martin Hilsk

Bilingual performance: English and Czech

Featuring Czech translation by Martin Hilsk

World-renowned Shakespeare scholar Martin Hilsk tells the spellbinding story of translating Shakespeare's most beloved sonnets into Czech while sharing deep insights about the man and his work. Sonnets are set to music and performed in original compositions from legendary composer Daniel Dobias and singers Jessica Boone and Josef Guruncz.

William Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets on themes such as love, beauty, mortality and the passing of time. Shakespeare plays with the form, switching gender roles, mocking love and beauty, being surprisingly frank about sexual drives and desires, and making political commentary. His sonnets have been called the prototype of modern love poetry. This is a rare opportunity to see one of the leading experts on Shakespeare in Europe at the top of his game, "telling what is told."
