AGC MA Collaborates with FSU Graduate and Continuing Education Construction Technology Program

 
In 2017 AGC MA and its member launched an advisory board to help facilitate multiple efforts to support students in the Continuing Education Construction Technology Program. The Advisory Board is made up of construction executives, state officials and Fitchburg State faculty, administration and alumni, to provide students with industry support and enhance their classroom education with seminars, guest lectures, site visits and internship opportunities. The partnership will help construction firms meet workforce needs while supporting the university's programs.

AGC MA and Western Mass. Members Meet at
UMass Amherst Building & Construction Technology Career Fair 
 
 
A delegation of AGC MA and Western Mass. members met recently with Administrators of the UMass Amherst Building & Construction Technology program during the Department's annual career fair.
At the meeting, a $100,000 donation was made to the Department from the Western Mass.
construction Industry Advancement Fund for scholarships.
 
Present were John Lopes, Associate Dean for Operations and Graduate Programs, Alex Schreyer, Director of the BCT Program, Curt Griffin Department Head, as well as representatives from Fontaine Brothers, Daniel O'Connell's, D.A. Sullivan and AGC MA.


AGC MA & MCAP Online
Scholarship Program

AGC MA and the Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP) gives out scholarship awards each year to deserving men and women who are enrolled in a construction or civil engineering degree program.

Scholarships are given out in early fall of each year. The deadline to submit applications is June 1st. Scholarship submissions are now open and can be accessed here.

AGC MA is searching
for a new candidate to fill the role of Director of Member Services.

 
 
Joe Kelly, the current Director of Member Services since 2014 is leaving AGC on March 1 to start his own company, Mass. Construction Consultants, Inc. His new company will offer code consulting, permitting, NFPA 241 plans, and related educational programs for contractors. 

We have valued Joe's tremendous contributions to AGC MA during his time here on Staff and wish Joe the very best!
 

OSHA Launches Focus Four Campaign

OSHA last week launched a regional Focus Four Campaign to address the four leading
causes of fatal injuries in construction.

Throughout the month of March, the campaign will use toolbox talks and outreach events to focus on electrical hazards. In April, the focus will be on struck-by hazards; May will target fall hazards; and June will focus on caught-in/between hazards.

Members of multi-market general contractor Delphi Construction gathered with representatives from Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), MassHousing, City, and State Government Officials and members of the community for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Tribune Apartments Renovations
 
Wentworth Institute of Technology Re-Schedules Spring Open House

Due to this weeks storm, the WIT College of Professional & Continuing Education Spring Open House will be held on March 28, 2018 in the Ira Allen Lobby.
