Greetings -  As we celebrate Black History month, it's important to honor our  African-American men and women who have served in our armed forces throughout American history and currently serving today! 

  

 OVA Performance Hearing - Scheduled for February 15th 



The Committee on Aging and Community Affairs will conduct the hearing on the performance of the Office of Veterans Affairs on Wednesday, February 15. Members of the public can, and are encouraged to testify. For those wishing to testify, please contact Garret King, Committee on Aging and Community Affairs at 202-724-8045 or gking@dccouncil.us.

Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit written testimony in advance of each hearing to Nyasha Smith, Secretary to the Council of the District of Columbia; Suite 5; John A. Wilson Building; 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.; Washington, DC 20004.

If a written statement cannot be provided prior to the day of the hearing, please have at least 20 copies of your written statement available on the day of the hearing for immediate distribution to the Council.  The hearing record will close two business days following the conclusion of each respective hearing.  Persons submitting written statements for the record should observe this deadline.

Special Needs Housing - Hearing Schedule

 

The hearings will help form a basis for developing the District's draft "Consolidated Plan for the District of Columbia Fiscal Year 2013 Action Plan" and the spending priorities utilizing federal entitlement funds.  DHCD, the Department of Human Services and the Department of Health will each provide input into the plan.

Thank a Vet! In honor of the "National Salute to Veterans", February 12-18,

DCVAMC will host a series of events throughout the Medical Center. The National Salute is held annually during the week of Valentine's Day to pay tribute to our Nation's Veterans. The "Salute" encourages citizens to visit hospitalized Veterans and perhaps even become a Medical Center volunteer.
