La Independencia Financiera y las Latinas Sobrevivientes de Violencia Domestica - Financial Independence and Latina Survivors of Domestic Violence
A 2-Day Train the Trainer Workshop for DV Service Providers (including OVW Grantees) & other Service Providers who Work with Latina Women (including Immigrants)

This training will prepare service providers to assist and provide information and resources to survivors of domestic violence, about financial literacy and how to start their own businesses or cooperatives. The training will also address specific issues faced by Latina survivors, including immigrant women. Trainees will get a copy of the curriculum and training video produced as part of this project.
The training will be based on a curriculum specifically designed for this OVW Project. Components of the training will include: 1) Money Management: Household Budgeting, How Banks and Financial Institutions work, Opening and Balancing a Checkbook, Credit Basics, Personal and Business Loans; 2) Small Businesses: Life as a Business Owner, Creating a Business Plan, New Business and Marketing/Promotion Worksheets, and Instructional Case Studies. The curriculum was developed in collaboration with WESST, a small business development and training nonprofit organization based in New Mexico. ***TRAINING IN SPANISH***
The training video features several DV survivors who became successful business owners. Several of them will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.
