Observe The Wind? 3/8/17
Observe The Wind? 3/8/17

Ecclesiastes 11:4 (KJV)
4  He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

As I attempted to sit outside on my porch, (baby, its cold outside), this obscure Scripture popped in my mind and spirit.

It is truly AMAZING what WE can do IF we only try!!!!!!

That mountain ALWAYS seems too high to climb, that goal UN-achievable, the battle too long and/or too hard.

BUT:

" THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES ALWAYS BEGINS WITH A FIRST STEP!"

Psalm 37:23-24 (KJV)
23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

24  Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

Another TRUTH I have relied upon on my Christian journey is this:

" CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A 100 YARD DASH, BUT AN ENDURANCE RACE!"

Just as in the ancient fable, the tortoise is able to beat the hare through sheer endurance!

Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)
11  I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Sometimes, my dear brethren, WE must look back from where we started and OBSERVE how far WE have come INSTEAD of how far WE have to go!!!!!

How does one eat an elephant??

One bite at a time!!!!

The ONLY way to consume a huge elephant is by taking the first bite, and then continue eating!!!!!!!!!!!!

" AND YOU KNOW THAT DON'T COME EASY!"

The hardest part of any endeavor is taking that first step.

BEGINNING that diet and/or exercise program, ENROLLING in higher education, cracking that book, training the mind or body to do what once thought impossible.

WE must adopt the mind and spirit of the Apostle Paul::

Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

One "CAN'T" "do all things through Christ" unless they try!!!

Ecclesiastes 11:4 (KJV)
4  He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

There is ALWAYS a "good" reason NOT to try!!!!

Proverbs 20:4 (KJV)
4  The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Proverbs 22:13 (KJV)
13  The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

I have "observed that not only is there an excuse of "fear of failure," BUT also the "fear of success!"

Luke 12:48 (KJV)
48  But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

"TO WHOM MEN HAVE COMMITTED MUCH, OF HIM THEY WILL ASK THE MORE!!!"

What is IT, today, that you may have always wanted to do, BUT were AFRAID
to try!!!

I can assure you of failure if you NEVER start!!!!

My son, Joshua, often refers to a "famous" sermon I once preached entitled "SWING THE BAT!"

I referenced the raising of my two boys and the many years they played LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL"

I DEMANDED that they "SWING THE BAT" while standing at the plate!!

There is NO shame in swinging and missing, but I would be disappointed in them if they struck out just standing there-SWING THE BAT!!!

And YES, God IS speaking to YOU today-SWING THE BAT!!!!

I close now and MAKE myself go to the gym and walk the DREADED treadmill!!!

GOD BLESS YOU!!!
