Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation Announces Plans for 2018
SWAC System Project for the U.S. Military
Begins Work on First OTEC Eco Village
Lancaster, PA - January 22, 2018 – Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTCQB: CPWR), a project developer for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plants that create renewable energy, has made tremendous progress on the development of its first OTEC EcoVillage and has progressed toward the development of a SWAC system for the U.S. Military.
SWAC System for the US Military
The Company designs and builds Seawater District Cooling/Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC) cooling plants. Having been approached by a major defense contractor, in 2018, Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE) plans to continue its design efforts for the construction of a SWAC system for the U.S. military. While working with this contractor, OTE expects to support and manage this energy-saving project through completion, generating savings of hundreds of thousands of taxpayers’ dollars that otherwise would be spent in high(er) energy costs.

OTEC EcoVillage
The U.S. Virgin Islands’ Public Service Commission has granted OTE regulatory approval for an OTEC plant, and OTE has identified the specific plots of land for the site. The first draft of the Master Plan for the entire development has been completed.

The OTEC EcoVillage project consists, in part, of an OTEC plant which will provide all power and water to about 400 residences, a hotel, and shopping center, as well as models of sustainable agriculture, food production, and other economic developments. OTEC EcoVillage will be the first development in the world offering a net-zero carbon footprint.

This will be OTE’s pilot project, launched to prove the viability of OTEC technology to provide affordable renewable energy for entire communities. The Company believes this $700 million project could be highly profitable and generate significant value for its shareholders.

“It is our belief that, in today’s world, it is not only our civil obligation, but also an exceptional, economically high-value opportunity to provide support for communities across the globe that are heavily dependent on the production of affordable clean energy and water for sustainable living. We do this by developing, constructing, and maintaining technology that eliminates the dependency on expensive fossil-fuel based energy production,” said Jeremy P. Feakins, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. “With the world’s leading scientists pushing forward efforts to become less dependent on expensive, fossil-fuel generated energy and embracing new technologies, such as OTEC, we believe that our company is well positioned to successfully compete in a global market, which is expected to generate rapid growth.”

After six years of significant investment into OTEC research, the development of proprietary, trade secret technology, and the assembling of an exceptional management, engineering, and consulting team, the Company is now positioned to accelerate the implementation of technology for projects in the U.S., the Caribbean, the Asia Pacific region, and eventually worldwide.

2018 Plans
In addition to OTEC EcoVillage and the SWAC system being designed for the US Military, the Company’s plans for 2018 include:

  • Developing plans to build large-scale floating OTEC plants delivering both renewable energy and water in the Philippines. Discussions with Government contacts and Business Leaders resulted in the Company receiving a letter of invitation from Aroroy, Philippines, with Mayor Arturo Virtucio offering to, “…facilitate all licenses and permits…” and stating, “An emission and fossil fuel-free power generation plant and OTEC EcoVillage are both things to enthusiastically look forward to for our town.”

  • Pursue carefully selected strategic acquisitions of operating companies in this industry sector, preferably those with existing patented technologies that support the acceleration of business plans and objectives and generate value for shareholders.

  • Continue to advance and accelerate the development of proprietary technologies and file patents for several technologies in OTEC, SWAC, and Water Production Methods.

“Since 2010, we have been developing a pipeline of projects based on our proprietary trade secret OTEC and SWAC technology, which has been designed to generate affordable, renewable energy and water for drinking, food production, irrigation, and other crucial uses without the use of fossil fuels.” Mr. Feakins said.

About OTEC and SWAC
Supporting the efforts for more sustainable living of nations around the world, OTEC and SWAC drastically reduce the output of carbon emissions. This translates to slowing down climate change and cleaning up our atmosphere for a healthier planet for all.

OTEC plants generate renewable energy by “harvesting” the heat in ocean water and using that heat to warm liquids with a low boiling point (such as ammonia) so that steam is produced. The steam is then pressurized so that it can turn a turbine and produce electricity. Cold water cools the steam and the closed loop cycle continues. The Rankine cycle , as it’s called, is as old as the steam engine. OTEC plants are a revolutionary application/use because electricity is continuously created, without the use of any fossil fuels and with little or no negative environmental impact.

About Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation
OTE is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based company that designs and develops deep-water hydrothermal clean-energy systems d environmentally friendly cooling through Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC). An important part of the technology is the production of large amounts of water for drinking, aquaculture, and agriculture.

OTE’s technology is best suited to tropical and subtropical regions of the world-- where about 3 billion people live. It utilizes the natural temperature differential in oceans to generate base-load, 24/7, clean, non-polluting electricity, as well as alternative, energy-efficient cooling systems and fresh water, the latter of which is essential for the entire world, particularly developing communities. Since the 1970s, OTEC and SWAC systems have been successfully demonstrated and operating in several locations around the world.
