Hello Lunch Boxer!
It is a pleasure for us to cordially invite you to our new photography exhibition A Visual Diary of Jaime Ferreyros from October 13th to November 24th. The opening night will take place on Saturday, October 13th from 7-10pm at 310 NW 24th St. Miami, Fl 33127.
A Visual Diary of Jaime Ferreyros is about the everyday journey of a man who finds himself in deep connectedness with his iPhone... every step of his way. This show is exactly that, the brief, overt result of those private dialogues between Ferreyros' personal eye and the eye of his device. His point of view shapes the world he sees, as soon as his iPhone then reinterprets what he wants it to interpret, once again. A fresh and spontaneous image is charged with mood and even with time, through additives like textures, scratches, blurs and vignettes, giving us the clues to his wide sensitivity: from nostalgia to logic, from curiosity to abstractionism, they all become part of this visual diary of his inner world.
Creativity and technology are automatically married when speaking of such an in-vogue trend like iPhoneography, where taking and editing pictures with the Apple's iPhone becomes to many, an individual process of artistically documenting and registering "that" which immediately surrounds them.
Miami-based iPhoneographer Jaime Ferreyros shares that "My passion for photography goes back to 1976, and really got serious in 1981 while I went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Shooting in black and white film was what I loved the most. But in 2009, my world was redefined when my wife gave me an iPhone on Father's Day. I now see through the lens of a camera whose limitations push my creativity to unknown shades of color, texture, blur and noise. You're basically carrying a camera and a darkroom in your hand."
Nowadays, iPhoneography is everywhere, without a doubt becoming a highly creative outlet for many - photographers or not -, and for sure a reflection of today's world. According to Ferreyros, the fact that this small and very limited camera is so unobtrusive, allows him to take pictures that would be quite a challenge to achieve if he had with him a whole professional gear with huge lenses. Along with other peculiarities given with the use of the iPhone and its apps, Ferreyros has invented his own colors, tones and moods to better tell his story, on his own way, pace and comfort. "I believe iPhoneography is photography, but with a twist", he concludes.
A Visual Diary of Jaime Ferreyros will be open to the public on October 13th from 7-10pm, and will last until November 24th, 2012. Regular business hours: Tuesday to Friday 11:30am-5pm, Saturday 12pm - 5pm.
