Bluff Park Update
The new irrigation system at Bluff Park is expected to be completely installed by November 1st. The contractor started work at Paloma toward Redondo, and is now focusing on the remaining system from Paloma to Lindero. The City will be temporarily watering the trees and portions of the grass area to help keep the dust down while work is in progress. For more information and updates on the Bluff Park Irrigation project, you can go to the city's project website at Click Here
3rd District Port of Long Beach Tour
The 3rd District Community meeting in September was a boat tour of our own Port of Long Beach with Councilwoman Price, her staff and close to 100 people. It was a beautiful evening tour that included a viewing of port docks, cranes, the oil islands and a close-up look at the recently damaged breakwater by Hurricane Marie.   For more information about the Port of Long Beach Click here
Naples Seawall Update

The City contractor is scheduled to start mobilizing in early November. This will include installation of fencing, bringing in temporary trailers and storage units and some utility work. The contractor will then be preparing for the installation of the steel sheet pile walls which is scheduled for late December and January. The Naples Canal will remain open until December 15th thus allowing the Naples Boat Parade to be unaffected by the seawall construction.  The only exception will be on the north-east quadrant in which there will be no landside viewing of the parade from phase 1 which is from Ravenna Bridge to The Toledo Bridge. For more information and updates on the Naples Seawall construction, go to the city's project website Click here

Coastal Cleanup Day

On Saturday, September 20th, Long Beach participated in the 25th Annual Coastal Cleanup.  The City teamed up with groups from all over Long Beach targeting our ocean, beach, parks and the lagoon.

  • Roddenberry Adventures and Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center hosted an underwater cleanup at Alamitos Bay.
  • Justin Rudd hosted a Beach cleanup at Granada Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.
  • The Long Beach Water Department hosted a cleanup at Bluff Park.
  • Friends of Colorado Lagoon (FOCL) hosted a cleanup at the Science Shack at the Colorado Lagoon. For more information about Coastal Cleanup Day Click here
