October 2016 Newsletter

As we approach the year end and the AGM, I am keen to find out whether any club members would like to join the committee and assist in the running of the club over the coming year. Brentford Cruising Club is run by its members for its members and new input into the committee is always welcome. If you would like to become involved, please let me know.

Coming Up

Friday 7th October - Moonlight Cruise
We have 3 boats on the Moonlight cruise this year as C Sharp has had to drop out due to mechanical problems.  The boats will be setting off around 17.30/18.00 to cruise through London as the lights come on, arriving in Limehouse around 20.00hrs in time for beer and a curry. Crew can then return to Brentford on the DLR or alternatively use the DLR to join the boats for the journey back on Saturday.  If you would like to join this cruise either for the outbound or return journey,  please let me know

Sunday  23rd October - Derek Jones
On Sunday 23rd October at 3pm a plaque will be unveiled outside the marina office in memory of Derek Jones, a resident of Brentford Dock, lockkeeper at the marina, and stalwart member of the Brentford Cruising Club for many years . Those attending may wish to toast Derek afterwards at the Brewery Tap.

Great River Race BBQ
Steve cooked up his usual feast on the BBQ at Brentford Dock as the crowds gathered to watch the Great River Race. Steve was kept busier than ever before and as a result raised a record £1000 for the RNLI

Debs Grt River Race

Deborah Price and her crew finished the race in a very respectable 3 hours 29 minutes and are within a hair's breadth of raising their target £5000 for the AHOY Centre. A sterling effort indeed.
