Code Applications for Existing Buildings Seminar presented by AIA Indiana
The course will provide a thorough exploration of code applications to existing buildings, including maintenance, alterations, change of occupancy, and additions to existing buildings.
The course will focus primarily on how and to what extent the current Indiana Building Code applies to existing buildings within the context of maintenance, alterations, change of occupancy, and additions to existing buildings.
However, the course will also explore concepts affecting the application of accessibility, energy conservation, and other codes to existing buildings under a variety of conditions. The course will include an extensive evaluation of change of occupancy of existing buildings, including a tutorial of utilizing Chapter 34 with specific examples. Because of the broad scope and potential varied subjects of interest of this topic, attendees are encouraged to bring specific questions for discussion.

Michael Ross, FAIA presents COHA - a 1976 national AIA Honor Award winner
AIA Indianapolis is hosting a presentation by Michael Ross, FAIA, Friday, October 28, 11am-12pm, at the AIA Indiana Office in downtown Indianapolis. Michael Ross, FAIA was a young project architect for the New York-based architectural firm Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates (HHPA) who worked on an innovative medical clinic for Cummins originally called the Columbus Occupational Health Association (COHA), completed in 1973. The building was recognized for design excellence with a national AIA Honor Award in 1976. Michael will talk about the original design intents of the building, its importance in the reputation of HHPA and its impact on his architectural career. The 2016 AIA Leadership Institute is a one-day leadership training event for architects and an essential training experience that includes:

The AIA Leadership Institute, which is being held on Friday, November 18, is a unique multi-venue event, maximizing technology to connect leaders across the country. Indianapolis is one of five cities to be selected to host this training.

FEMA P-154, Rapid Visual Screening of Buildings for Potential Seismic Hazards (pre-disaster) Training
The target audience for this training includes building officials, engineers, architects, building owners, emergency managers, risk analysts, and other interested citizens and volunteers. Tiny House Roadshow - Volunteers Needed
The Tiny House Roadshow is coming to the JCC, 6701 Hoover Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46260, November, 4, 5 and 6 with a special preview event and dinner the evening of November 3. The houses may be tiny, but the event is HUGE! Twenty actual Tiny Houses will be available for everyone to explore, as well as food trucks with a festival feel. Volunteers are needed and the shifts are as follows: Friday, November 4, 11:30am-2:30pm, 2pm-5:30pm, 5pm-6:30pm; Sunday, November 6, 9:30am-1pm, 12:30pm-4pm, 3:30pm-6:30pm.
