The GW Cancer Institute is pleased to announce the launch of our new Cancer Control Technical Assistance Portal (TAP) (www.cancercontroltap.org), designed to pull together existing and new technical assistance for Comprehensive Cancer Control. Watch this video that provides an overview of the website and its functionality.

Session one in our Ask the Expert series creates a forum to share key challenges related to ACA implementation and strategies to address those challenges. On October 21 at 1 p.m. ET we invite you to join our first expert Juliette Forstenzer Espinosa, M.A., J.D., LL.M. as she answers your questions about policy, systems and environmental (PSE) changes post-ACA. Registration is limited to 10-15 people and on a first-come-first-served basis. Overflow registrations will be placed on a waiting list. Register today.

The GW Cancer Institute is pleased to announce the publication of a Breast Cancer Awareness Social Media Toolkit for October 2014. This toolkit is designed to help public health professionals understand the functions and benefits of social media, establish a Breast Cancer Awareness Month social media strategy, manage social media accounts, implement Facebook and Twitter best practices, disseminate Breast Cancer Awareness Month messaging and evaluate their social media efforts.

The National Capital Area Society for Public Health Education will host a webinar on health disparities within Latino populations in commemoration of Hispanic Heritage month on October 9, 2014. Learn more
The National Breast Cancer Coalition will host a three day introductory workshop November 14 - November 16 on basic biological concepts of breast cancer, the fundamentals of research design and skills to critique breast cancer literature. Find out more.

Coalition Spotlight: 
New York State Cancer Consortium

The New York State Cancer Consortium recently launched the New York State Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan Dashboard. This interactive, web-based dashboard will be used to monitor progress of cancer prevention and control efforts in NYS and to guide organizations working toward cancer prevention and control to areas most in need of intervention.
