Dear Parents,
This month we celebrate a decade of Catholic high school education at St. Francis. Over the years, we have reflected often on our Patron Saint's words. When we look back and listen to those many, many people that have made St. Francis possible, we can always hear the specific words of St. Francis, that we should "start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible."
We have accomplished many things at St. Francis Catholic High School during these past ten years and even before as our Catholic high school was being conceptualized. Like our first Mass here ten years ago, the Gospel of Matthew makes our direction clear, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house." Still today, we are inspired by the St. Francis community and our larger Catholic/Christian community who like St. Francis, choose the good and work for the Catholic social justice of all.
May God continue to Bless our St. Francis community as we continue to grow in our Faith, Knowledge and Virtue and begin our second decade!
This month, we feature Mr. Alberto DeSimoni of the Memores Domini order. Mr. DeSimoni came to us from St. Brendan's Catholic High School in Miami where he taught for two years. Prior to his assignment in Miami, Mr. DeSimoni taught for 6 years in the Archdiocese of Milan, Italy. Mr. DeSimoni has taught Latin, European History and Italian literature. In addition to his teaching duties, he was an International program director, bringing Italian students to the United States for their senior year. Thank you, Mr. DeSimoni, for the Faith and dedication you show with our young people.
