OCTOBER EVENTS

October 3: National Night Out. From 6-9pm residents are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and come to the HEB in Lampasas to join us for hotdogs, drinks, bounce house and music as a way to meet and socialize with one another. National Night Out is a great opportunity for citizens, law enforcement, and other public safety officials to join forces to promote crime prevention awareness, to come together and send the message that we are all working together to prevent crime in our community.

October 4: "Amaze-ing Mice" Preschool story time at the Library from 10-11am. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 6: Teen Lock-In at the Library from 6-8pm. Open to tweens/teens (ages 11-17 yrs). Enjoy food, games, and more! Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 7: Republican Party 4-Person Golf Tournament at the Hancock Park Golf Course from 8am-12pm. Contact Golf Pro Shop 512-556-3202.

October 10: "How Pinteresting!" Cards Craft, from 5-7pm. Sign up at the Library. $5 donation requested for materials. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 14: Annual Herb & Art Festival & Jammin' With Art in the Park from 10am-6pm at Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden at Campbell Park. A fun filled day for all ages! Array of vendors, live music, Texas wines, and more! Contact Chamber of Commerce 512-556-5172.

October 14: "Books & Badgers" Hear stories that are read by our LHS celebrity readers, make a craft, and enjoy a snack at the Library, from 10:30-11:30am. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 18: "Halloween" Preschool story time at the Library from 10-11am. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 18: Cornelia Key Book Club. "Rough Riders: Theodore Roosevelt, His Cowboy Regiment, and the Immortal Charge Up San Juan Hill" by Mark Lee Gardner. Located at Library at 11am. Event is open to the public. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 21: Colorado Women's Night Golf Tournament. The golf course will be closed during this event. Contact Golf Pro Shop 512-556-3202.

October 23: "BBQ For Books" Drive-Thru Lunch Fundraiser at the Library from 11am-1:30pm. Tickets on sale now for $9 at Lampasas Public Library, Rutland's, Hodges & Sargent Pharmacy, and Cattles Pharmacy. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 24: Legos Robotics for Homeschoolers. Located at Library from 1-2:30pm. Event is free. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 24: Legos Robotics for Kids 7-10 years old. Located at Library from 4-5:30pm. Event is free. Contact Library 512-556-3251.

October 28: DEA Drug Take Back Day at the Lampasas Police Department from 10am-2pm. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Contact Police Department 512-556-6235.

October 28: Squared Silly from 5-7pm at the Downtown Courtyard Square. Vision Lampasas will be hosting the Squared Silly event on the downtown courtyard square. There will be activities for children, such as, bounce house, mini-train, the Not So Scary Haunted House, costume contests, hot dogs, face painting and fishing booths. Some merchants will be open during the event to offer free candy to Squared Silly festival goers.This annual event provides a real, old-fashioned family night geared mostly toward kids to give them a safe environment for enjoying Halloween activities. This event is a fundraiser for local youth organizations. Some of the activities are free, and tickets can be purchased for others. Contact Chamber of Commerce 512-556-5172.

Photo-of-the-Month Contest: Enter our photo-of-the-month contest by visiting www.cityoflampasas.com for contest rules and emailing your photo to [email protected]
. The City Council will announce the monthly winning photo at the first regular City Council meeting. Winners will receive a City of Lampasas insulated tumbler w/straw and posting of their photo on the web site.

Reminder from Lampasas Public Utilities: Sewer bills are based on the average water usage from December, January, and February. Please remember to notify LPU if you have any leaks during that time.

Can You Be Located In An Emergency? The owner of every house or building within the City is required to have a house number placed there on that is readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces. The numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height and contrast with the background on which they are placed, made of material that will not tarnish, corrode or deteriorate unreasonably. Not only will this assist emergency personnel but the US Postal service as well.
