October General Meeting

Our October meeting will once again return to Mountain Mike's Pizza in Meadow Vista.
We are working out details for our guest speaker, so for now, the guest speaker will be a surprise!
Please take time to join us for this meeting, we would really like to see many more of our fantastic, but elusive members at this meeting!

September General Meeting Re-cap

A few of us were able to make the hike out at Rollins Lake for the General Meeting, the word is that the dogs outnumbered the people at this meeting! As always, the MVTA Membership meetings that are held on a trail are always fantastic. Weather held up and the hike was done and everyone returned to their cars before darkness fell!

MVTA HORSE'N AROUND HORSE SHOW
|
|
Mark your calendar for the MVTA Horse'N Around Horse Show, planned for October 21st! As always, this show is for ALL! Small children, adults, horses that have never shown, to the experienced. It is above all, a FUN show, a very family oriented show.
We are still looking for help for the show, we could use Ribbon presenters, someone to help with the parking direction, sign-ups, "snack bar" either morning or lunch, and judge's assistant. Please contact us if you would like to help out at the show!

GPS VOLUNTEERS
|
|
MVTA is looking for volunteers that have GPS units that ride our trails, to GPS the trail for us while riding and then send us the output. Our plan it to do an overlay of the GPS onto a topo map. This will be kept on our website for people to use.
The only constraint that we have, is if you traverse over a private property without easement, we will not use that on our web page.
We are asking for GPS of official easement trails.
Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to so this for a trail or more.

MVTA TREASURE NEEDED!
|
The Treasure position on the MVTA Board will be open, officially for January 2018. Our current Treasure, Linda needs to tend to some other obligations. Linda has done a great job and is willing to train the next Treasure.
This position is very, very much needed. We are hoping that someone from our membership will come forward and help us out with this position.
As with any of the MVTA Board positions, we welcome any Member to join the board! November is the meeting that we put nominations out to the floor. If you are interested to be part of the board, please let us know. We really need a Treasure right away!

AIRMED SPECIAL MVTA RATE!
|
We had AMCN, previously CALStar, as our guest speaker a few months back. From that meeting, MVTA was able to obtain a membership account with them that will provide our members with a discounted price. The MVTA membership price is $55/year for family coverage. The regular price is $65.00/year.
If you were at the meeting, you know that the area covered and the services offered, have been enhanced greatly by the acquisition of CALStar to AMCN. This is a great service for us who are on the trails!
Also, this Member discount is extended to our Members Family & Friends! Purchasing a year membership would make a great Christmas gift! One person gifted a membership to their adult child one year, and then every year they pay the dues as a Christmas gift.
We are unable to attach the application and information to this news letter, however, it will be posted to our FaceBook page in the "FILES" and will eventually be added to our WebSite page.

Trail Work Days
|
Due to the dryness and fire danger that our area is still experiencing, MVTA has postponed trail work until there is some precipitation.
However, if you know of a current problem on a trail we maintain that is making it difficult to enjoy the trail, please let us know by emailing Chris at [email protected].
Trail work days will be scheduled based on volunteer availability. If you are interested in helping with trail maintenance, please contact Chris at [email protected]. Chris will contact you to schedule a time that will work best for the participating volunteers.

MVTA HOLIDAY PARTY!
|

The Board is currently working on the annual Holiday Party for our Members.
We are putting out a call for pictures! Please bring a disc of pictures from hiking, trail riding, cycling that you have done this past year on trails! We will have a computer hooked to the TV and will carousel the pictures during the night.

Manure
Please pick up and haul out your horse manure from the Arena and staging area.
We do not have a service to pick up the manure. It is up to everyone using the arena to pick up their manure and haul it out.
Please help keep our arena, staging area, and dog park clean!
Gate
Please make sure that the gate is
closed and locked when you leave the arena. People will illegally dump trash in the staging area, if the gate is open and no one is there.
If you see anyone dumping illegally, get their license plate number and call 911 with the information!
