Oh, Elvis, Elvis! How DO you do it? You're just as handsome now as when you came home from the Army bringing Priscilla with you.
The rest of us have aged with the times: our hair is gray or dyed, we've gained weight, our mobility is at best slower, but sometimes aided by canes, walkers or wheelchairs.
But YOU, Elvis, you have barely changed in the past 50 years--black hair, glittery suit, rhinestone microphone.
And your songs are just as touching, exhilerating, patriotic and religious as ever when you circle our necks with golden (Mardi Gras) beads and croon or belt out "Love Me Tender," "In the Ghetto," "Peace in the Valley," "You Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog," and "An American Trilogy."
Elvis, in the person of Danny Rand, made a return visit to the Connie Hudson Mobile Regional Senior Community Center on Friday, September 15th.
Humana sponsored the afternoon concert, which included Tracy Martin as the really, really good opening performance and Danny (pre-glitter) and Tracy harmonizing on the Johnny Cash/June Carter tune--"We Got Married in a Fever."
The crowd enjoyed the event; all the women got a hug from Elvis and the men, a handshake. Elvis even acknowledged and honored the veterans present. The King never tired nor sweated, though the black long-sleeved, bell-bottomed outfit must have been hot. He was gracious, smiling, and singing Elvis' tunes in Elvis' voice.
By the way, Elvis/Danny Rand is available for shows, birthday parties, wedding receptions, and, he said, "even divorce celebrations." His contact information is 251-865-1957, his email is Elvis/Dannys/[email protected] and his Facebook is Danny Rand.
