Wine of the Month

Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby color with aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and black currants. Once in your mouth the wine's flavors of blackberries, raspberries and cassis provide a perfect combination with the sweet oak and savory spices, creating a rich and full bodied wine experience. The soft tannins and oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.
Use this wine in our Halloween Sangria Recipe for a spooky refreshing treat.

Halloween Sangria Recipe
What You'll Need
  • 1 750 ml bottle of Sean Minor Cab*
  • 1 orange (cut into wedges)
  • 1 lemon (cut into wedges)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cups ginger ale (or club soda)
  • Dash of grenadine (optional, for darker "bloodlike" color)
  • 1 cup gummy worms, gummy bugs, or spooky hard candy eyes
How to Make It
  1. Pour the wine into a pitcher.
  2. Squeeze the juices from the lemon and orange wedges into the wine. If possible, remove the seeds, then toss the wedges into the punch.
  3. Add the sugar and stir thoroughly until it dissolves.
  4. Chill overnight.
  5. Add the ginger ale or club soda, grenadine syrup, ice, and creepy candy just before serving.
*For the deepest red wine color, choose a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja red, Zinfandel, or Shiraz.
If you'd like to serve the Halloween Sangria right away, use chilled red wine and serve it over lots of ice.

More Fun Additions to Your Halloween Sangria
Halloween is the one holiday of the year where anything goes. Sangria fits perfectly because there are no rules to sangria either. Have fun and use your imagination to add creepy elements to your punch bowl.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
  • Freeze plastic spiders and other cheap, spooky toys in ice cube trays. Half way through the freeze, add a dash or two of red food coloring or grenadine to each cube.
  • Add fresh fruit to the punch or ice cubes. Sliced strawberries, peaches, kiwi, or a handful of fresh blueberries and raspberries are all fun options. The bigger variety of fruit, the better as it looks like a witch's brew.
  • Edible eyeballs are always a fun addition to a Halloween drink. Olives are the easiest 'eyeballs' though you can build your own with fruits like lychees and blueberries. Float them on top or freeze them in ice.
  • Add black plastic spider rings to the stem of the wine glasses to complete the Halloween effect.
  • Do you want your Halloween Sangria to be just a little stronger? Add a shot or two of gin, brandy, or rum. Don't get too crazy on the booze, though. You don't want all your ghostly guests to become zombies before the night's over.
The Spice Lab: Ghost Pepper Sea Salt

Add some spice to your life with The Spice Lab Ghost Pepper Infused Sea Salt! This salt is made from pure, unrefined sea salt and the famous Naga Jolokia Pepper. This incredibly spicy pepper, also known as King Cobra Chili, is named after  the most venomous snake in India. Used commonly for finishing, tabletop, and cooking, this salt would add immense heat to any  dish you prepare.

This salt is hot, so use The Spice Lab Ghost Pepper Infused Sea Salt sparingly!
Paprika, and cayenne pepper (Schwarzenegger proportions). Hot orange. Originally designed for Neiman Marcus. It makes our list by true popular demand. Oh, it has a bite!
