LEGACIES

It's hard for many to believe, but on Tuesday, October 10, the Transfiguration Spirituality Center will celebrate a fulfillment of 7 years in service to those who need and want a place for reflection and renewal. On 10/10/10 the dedication of the remodeled St. Mary's took place, opening her doors once again, but with a focus on spirituality.  Sixty years ago [1957], St. Mary's first opened her doors as a nursing home. Although we no longer tend to physical wounds and challenges, the impact of this space to those who have lived and visited is often lasting.
As we consider the legacy of St. Mary's our recent presenter, the Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, asked us to consider the legacy we are leaving through our relationship with creation.  We at St. Mary's are working together to continually improve -- by shrinking -- the size of our institutional carbon footprint. Recycling of paper, bottles and cans has been ongoing for years. We also use compostable cold cups, and will be seeking new sources for compostable and environmentally 'friendly' products.
Thank you to our guests, group leaders, and staff who have enriched the life and ministry of St. Mary's since 1957. If you would like to schedule a retreat at St. Mary's, please contact [email protected] or call 513.771.2171.

Rest in Peace: Kathleen Dowling Singh

On two occasions in the past two years, Kathleen Dowling Singh, author and weekend presenter here at TSC, gave participants in her events a gift of renewal, caring, and encouragement. On Sunday, October 1, Kathleen died. The following is a quote from her Facebook page:
On October 1, 2017, our mother, Kathleen Dowling Singh, died peacefully with loved ones. As she would say, she was an ordinary person dying an ordinary death. Our mother personified Grace and offered it up as a gift for the world. We will miss her beyond words. We have the comfort of the wisdom and guidance she offers us all.
Her new book,  Unbinding: The Grace Beyond Self went on sale on October 2.
Thank you, Kathleen, for the reminder of our legacy of Grace.
