OCTOBER 2017
YOUTH MINISTRY
UPDATE

Dear Youth, Parents, & Leaders,

Fall has so many fun traditions.  Most of us think of leaves changing colors and falling, others think of cooler weather, pumpkin spice, and of course football! Corn mazes and bonfires usually make the list, too. We'll get to enjoy all of these as a youth group in the month of October!

While it's always fun to try new things, traditions have important roles in our lives.  Did you know God likes traditions?  Leviticus 23 is one place of many where we can read about the annual festivals and celebrations God commanded His people to observe, in addition to the weekly sabbath days of rest. Isn't it cool that God actually commanded celebration and fun as tradition? Rest is an important tradition, too!  Of course, God's love for us isn't contingent upon keeping traditions; however, they do bring to remembrance wonderful things about who He is.  New Testament traditions, such as the Lord's Supper, hold an important place in the lives of believers still today.

One specific tradition is one I mentioned at the last parent meeting-- Family Dinners.  How has that been going?  The prayers and conversations around the table have immense long-term impact with remembering God and forming stronger family units!  I'll send out a more specific e-mail soon with some further tips and resources on this healthy family tradition.

You are loved and you are prayed for!  Pay careful attention to our up-coming events!  Don't get lost in the details.  May God bless you all as you balance your time among school, homework, sports, band, jobs, and of course church!  See you soon :)
