Conversations in the Corridor: Are we "Waiting for Superman?"
Right now, the focus is on education at the national level and it's a great time for us to capitalize on that momentum to act locally.

Join Hyattsville Now for a special Conversations in the Corridor this Tuesday, October 5th as we discuss the ways in which we can work together as a community of concerned parents and advocates to strengthen our schools.

Topic: What's wrong, what's right and how are we empowered to make our children's educational experiences the best possible?

Where: Spotlight Cafe - 3311 Rhode Island Avenue; Mount Rainier, MD
TIme: Mix, mingle and grab coffee at 5:30 then get ready for the conversation at 6pm.

Delegate Justin Ross, Amber Waller and Aimee Olivo (candidates for the Prince George's County school board Districts 3 and 4) are scheduled to attend. This event is free and open to the public so feel free to invite others!
From the blog...
Welcome, October!
Useless fact no. 1,278: October makes me happy.

October has to be the best month on the calendar, don't you think? It's the first full month of fall, which means the end of daily flip flops and the return of beautiful sweaters and coats. It's when ordering a pumpkin spice latte actually makes sense. You can eat a hearty bowl of soup without guilt because even on an unseasonably warm day the excuse will always be, "well it is October." Not to mention, it's the only month that says goodbye with parades of men, women and children dressed unabashedly as other people and creatures.
I'm curious though, what do the rest of you Hyattsvillians do for Halloween/Harvest season? I don't want to miss out!
