Masonry Day in Fort Wayne 

Masonry Day will be held in Fort Wayne, IN on Wednesday, October 18, and hosted by the International Masonry Institute and Indiana/Kentucky Structural Masonry Coalition.
 
Masonry Day covers various topics within masonry, including structural masonry case studies, grouting and reinforced masonry construction, and cutting edge masonry codes and standards. The goal of masonry day is to provide the necessary education and tools needed for the design and construction community to succeed on projects. Completing the program will earn you 5 PDH or 5 AIA/CES LU's for continuing education.
 
This event begins at 7:30 a.m. with registration and breakfast and concludes at 1:30 p.m. after the final session. The deadline for registration is Friday, October 13. There is no cost for this event. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. CLICK HERE to learn more and to register!

Indianapolis Public Library Request for Qualifications

The Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL) has issued a Request for Qualifications to solicit Statement of Qualifications from qualified vendors for architectural design services for the Fort Benjamin Harrison Branch Library Project, the next step in the implementation of the IndyPL Strategic Plan. Ball State CAP Guest Lecture Series

CALL FOR ENTRIES: Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant  

New York City's Center for Architecture is currently looking for applications for the Stewardson Keefe LeBrun Travel Grant, a $15,000 award. The grant seeks early to mid-level architects who wish to further their personal and professional development through travel. The travel scholarship was originally based on the idea of the Grand Tour, in which recent architectural graduates would travel through Europe experiencing art, architecture, and culture first-hand. The scholarship focus is less on academic projects than on self-directed education.
 
Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a professional degree in architecture. Applicants must be practicing architects. Academics may apply as long as they are also practicing architects.
 
Grant Amount: $15,000
Deadline: Wednesday, November 1st 5 p.m. (EST)

2017 AIA Leadership Institute 

Join AIA on November 16 for a powerful, one-day leadership training event for architects. Architectural Billings Index
Architecture firm billings increased for the seventh consecutive month in August, with the Architecture Billings Index score rising to 53.7, as more firms reported improving business conditions in August than in July. Inquiries into new projects remained strong as well, and firms continued to report an increase in the value of new design contracts. CLICK HERE to learn more.

AIA State Economic Profiles 
The midyear update to the AIA's State Economic Profiles has been released. The profiles provide a collection of economic indicators that can be used to make better business decisions. 
The data demonstrates the importance of architects and the industry to society. Each profile contains national, regional, and state indicators such as employment and gross domestic product. CLICK HERE to learn more.  

2018 AIA Grassroots - Call for Presentations
Showcase your program during the Grassroots 2018 meeting by presenting during one of the breakout workshops. The workshops are an integral part of Grassroots and will focus on the seven Core Member Services and other programs that relate to the theme. Proposals are due by October 20.
