Environmental Strategies for Underage Drinking and Alcohol Abuse Prevention

An event was recently held in Anamosa focusing on evidence-based alcohol prevention strategies.  In particular, the session addressed the most effective policies and practices to reduce problems associated with excessive alcohol use with the younger population.

Dr. David Jernigan and Vincent DeMarco shared their knowledge regarding their  experience  in Maryland with alcohol tax increase.  Their research shared dramatic results in reducing drunk driving deaths in young people ages 15 to 34 and provided much needed revenue towards prevention and education.

The event brought individuals together from across the state representing a variety of prevention organizations.  If you were not able to attend, the p resentation is available at  this link. For more information, you can contact  Jennifer Husmann
