University Honors Founders, Influential Community Members at Inaugural Founders' Dinner October 8
On Thursday, Oct. 8, as part of its yearlong commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Watts Rebellion, California State University, Dominguez Hills will host the inaugural CSUDH Founders' Dinner, paying tribute to those who influenced its history and honoring individuals and organizations dedicated to improving Watts and the surrounding communities. Class Notes
Nancee Cline (BA, '92) (MA, '95)
spent four years exploring archives and interviewing residents in Hawaii for her book, "Queen Emma's Church in Kealakekua, Crossroads of Culture." In 2011, she received a publishing grant for this project from the Hawaii chapter of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Cline works as an instructor for Hawaii Community College, where she conducts creative nonfiction writing workshops.
 
Joe Flanagan (BA, '92)
celebrated his 300th win after 21 seasons as head coach for the CSUDH men's soccer program. A true fixture in the South Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills community, Flanagan has been associated with the university for over 20 years as a player and coach. He was a star midfielder for the Toros from 1986-89, earning All-Far West Region and All-CCAA honors three times.  In 2000-01, Flanagan was honored as the Alumni of the Year by the CSUDH Alumni Association for his outstanding achievements on and off the field, as well as for being an excellent ambassador to the surrounding South Bay communities.
 
Adrian Medina (BS, '13)
has been hired as a teacher for Woodlake High School in Woodlake, Calif., teaching math and statistic classes. In his classes, Medina plans on implementing new computer programs to help students use technology to learn math.
 
Randy Totorp (CRT, '99)
has been appointed as the new athletic director for Long Beach City College. Prior to serving as interim athletic director, Totorp was head coach of the highly successful LBCC men's volleyball program for eight seasons. He led the Vikings to three state championships (2004, 2006, 2009) and seven Western State Conference titles. This past year he also served as director of athletics and kinesiology at El Camino College.

Elvia Galicia (BS, '07)
was selected as the new director of Fiscal Services for Los Alamitos Unified School District. Prior to joining Los Alamitos Unified, Galicia spent 10 years as assistant director of Fiscal Services for Paramount Unified School District. She comes to Los Alamitos with more than 17 years of experience in school district finance.
