BREWSTER DAY CAMP Newsletter October 1, 2018 Vol. 37 Issue 1

Welcome to Fall and all that this season has to offer: Changing leaf colors, longer shadows, busy schedules full of school, meetings, work, and managing the details of life! As we all head into the depths of Fall - and on into Winter - I am thinking about keeping the values of camp close to me.
If I had to sum up the power of camp in one word it would be SPACE! A special, intentional camp, like BDC, offers:
SPACE for campers to find new interests in the natural (non virtual) world.
SPACE for staff members to discover their true voices as leaders.
SPACE for campers and staff to work on relationships which take time and focused effort.
SPACE for all of us to learn about who we truly are - not who we think we should be.
SPACE for running, jumping, sailing, swimming, building, creating, listening, singing, climbing, laughing, wondering, exploring, dancing, believing - and so much more - all of which provide an opportunity to grow bigger and stronger physically and emotionally.
SPACE to get quiet and really listen to our own inner voice - not the harried, critical voice - the loving, kind, gentle voice of our true self which has our own best interest at heart.
SPACE to simply be.
This month, I challenge all of us to keep the values of camp close by and spend time each day creating SPACE to be our true selves. After all, we are all human beings who need SPACE to grow in all the best ways! While the Fall days grow shorter, I am keeping these camp values close to my heart and as well as sending you a ground swell of...
