Welcome, George!

Hello, my  name is George Bloome, and I am the new Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps,  Volunteer Wisconsin member serving Healthy Lifestyles. I am from Unity where I have been working on my family's farm since I was old enough to hold a calf bottle. I graduated from Colby High School and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I majored in Exercise Sports Science and minored in Nutrition. In La Crosse I worked and volunteered at various public health and general fitness sites. My passion for health and wellness led me to my current position here in Marshfield. I am really looking forward to serving the community I grew up in, and especially working with people who live here.

Another successful year of the Bicycle Discount Program has come to a close. This year's program saw a significant increase in the number of participation cards returned and as always, our participating businesses offered great prizes to our bikers.

Congratulations to the winners of Bicycle Discount Program Prizes: Kayla Kinning, Valerie Gosh, Leeann Luedtke, Kevin Gleisner, Audrey Luedtke, Regina Sennholz, Alli Kinning, and Len Luedtke.

Celebrate and Brainstorm With Us

The Healthy Lifestyles - Marshfield Area Coalition Strategic planning meeting will take place on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 8:30am - 12:00pm at the Hope Lodge (611 W Doege St., Marshfield, WI 54449).

This meeting is a good opportunity to meet with other community members and leaders, celebrate the many accomplishments of 2017 and develop a plan of action for the coming year. The 2018 plan needs your input to reflect what is important to you as a member of the Marshfield community.  Please save the date in your calendar; you are welcome to join us even if you can only attend part of the time. For more information, contact Laura Zelenak at [email protected] or 715-221-8400.

Get Involved...
  • ...at the Garden: It's time to bring in the harvest! The Community Garden Fall Clean-up Work Day will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Volunteers are needed for this one-time volunteering opportunity at all three community garden sites (Good Shepherd Church, First Presbyterian Church, and St. Alban's Church) to help clear the garden beds, collect compost, harvest leftovers, and to help weed the garden perimeters to prepare for the next growing season.
  • ...Walk to School Day: Hand out high-fives and fist-bumps on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, International Walk to School Day. Volunteers are needed to distribute 'I love to Walk and Roll' stickers and greet K-6 students as they arrive to school from home or from nearby drop-off points. International Walk to School Day emphasizes the importance of being physically active and of having safe routes for students to walk and bike to school. If you are able to help us greet students, contact the Healthy Lifestyles Team at 715-221-8400 or [email protected].
