stretch How To Stretch Properly
Most of us learned in elementary school that we were supposed to stretch before exercising, but before you hit the gym or play your weekend basketball game, are you stretching properly?

Proper stretching makes your muscles more flexible and less likely to be damaged while exercising. When done regularly, it can also help correct poor posture and relieve aches and pains. On the flip side, when not performed correctly, stretching can cause pain or damage to muscles that will inhibit getting the good work out that you deserve.

Some general rules to remember are; warm up by walking or jogging (lightly) before you begin stretching. Stretch the muscles that are relevant to your workout. You're not reaping the full benefits of stretching if you're stretching your upper body, but not your lower before running a marathon. Stretch gently, slowly and deliberately, do not wrench your body, and do not bounce while stretching.
