Stillwater Book Fair

The 2016 Stillwater Book Fair is here!
Beef-up your home library. Find some great holiday gifts. Decorate your room with posters. Enter to win a raffle prize. Donate an item to your favorite classroom teacher. The Scholastic flyer (not used to place orders) will be sent home this week, so you can preview this year's selection. Student wish-lists will be coming home next week.
We have three great ways to participate and promote reading:
- Come into the Book Fair in the Library between November 15th and November 22nd.
- Volunteer to help at the book fair! Sign up at clicking HERE!
- Shop online, November 7th - 26th...There are no Shipping & Handling costs, and online purchases will be delivered to SW before winter break.
- Don't FORGET - The book fair will be open during the Turkey Bingo and Reflections Gala on Friday, November 18th starting at 5:30 pm.

Camp Fundraiser

Hello fourth & fifth grade families,
We are excited to begin our fundraiser today with Otis Spunkmeyer ! Profits from the fundraiser will benefit your student's individual camp fund. Our goal is for every family to participate, and remember that every order helps your student. Packets were sent home with your student today with all the information, but can also be found below.
Friday, November 4th through Friday, November 18th.
PAYMENT:
All money must be collected when order is placed. Please return all money in the envelope with the order forms by Friday, November 18th.

Fundraising orders will be delivered after Thanksgiving. You will be notified of the exact delivery day and time.

TIME TO Nominate STUDENTS FOR

Highly Capable Services and Program for the Academically Talented
The Riverview School District will be accepting nominations for assessing students for Highly Capable Services, including the Grade 2-5 Program for the Academically Talented (PAT) for the 2017-2018 school year. All first grade students will be screened in January to determine their eligibility, so no first-graders or Kindergarteners need to be nominated. Parents can opt out of the Highly Capable screening for their children by completing the opt-out form which will be given to you at conferences or sent home with your 1st grade child. All parents who wish to nominate their 2

grade children may pick up a nomination form in the school office starting November 21
st
to be turned in by December 16
th
. No late nominations or outside/private testing will be accepted. Those elementary students who meet the criteria on the screener, given during the day at their home s
chool, will be invited to take the full Cognitive Abilities Test in February 2017 at Carnation Elementary.
The goal for Highly Capable Services is to support and provide appropriate academic challenges to students with extraordinary ability in English/Language Arts, or Math.

ALL Highly Capable Nomination Forms Due in the
HiCap Office at Carnation elementary.
Round 1 - January CogAT screener given during the school day
Those who meet our criteria will move on to take the full CogAT test
Round 2 - Late February CogAT test (9:00 AM - 12:00 on a Saturday)
*If a child is ill or unable to attend a testing session, a parent must contact the
HiCap Office to schedule a make-up test. No outside tests accepted.

products starting next week to help offset the cost of Outdoor Camp.
This is a great way to offset the cost for camp which this year is
$195 per student.

- The amount due for camp will be added to your 5th graders e-funds account taking into account any earnings from the fundraiser. The AWESOME news is that you can make payments towards the total over the next 4 months if you choose. If you have questions about this, please call Karie in the front office at 425-844-4681.
