Reach-Connect-Grow-Serve

We see a welcoming family, living the Gospel of Grace. We see a family where people can safely seek, question, and be revived.  We see a family energized by the Spirit alive in our midst.
Interdependence
By Pastor Jennifer

Aspen trees are particularly unique. They grow in groups called a stand. What is significant is that they share a root system.  They produce babies by sprouting a new tree from the roots below.  They are common in areas that experience wildfires, because their root systems are deep enough to survive the fire. They can sprout new trees fairly quickly following the fire. Further, a tree stand near a water source can sustain part of its stand away from water through its shared roots.
I like to think that this is like the body of Christ. When one member is weak, the others can be strong and sustain them. When tragedy occurs Jesus' people can surround with food, listening ears and love.

This isn't always the way it works... Yet, this is the way Jesus asks us to work. Romans 12 tells us that each one of us is important because we are all part of Christ's body. We all have a purpose and a place. We are all a part. AND... I wonder how each of us already does support the stand????  I bet we do. I bet there is something that each one of us does that helps support the stand, grow new shoots, and love the ones who are dying.

Thank God for bringing our life together as one!

Calling all Care Team -- Summer Read Participants books_opened_on_table.jpg

The "MESSY SPIRITUALITY" book by Mike Yaconelli which was selected as the Spirit Alive Summer Read will have its last session on Sunday, October 9. The book covers such thoughts as "The Workshop of the Spiritual Life," "Erratic Discipleship," "The Irresistibleness of Grace," and more.  Even if you did not read the book, come along for a hearty discussion, and as you have your appetite whetted for further reading, someone would probably loan the book to you!  The author, an unconventional Lutheran pastor, has a lot to say in a small, very readable book.  Teacher's Lounge after worship, join in!
Open Spaces for Listening stained_glass_purple.jpg

On August 4 a group of 12 adults met to practice
listening to each other and inviting others to speak. This is listening to learn about someone else, not listening to respond. We ask you to join us in October and learn with us.
