OCTOBER

Fall is here and we're ready with all the necessities for creating a fabulous fall garden and enhancing your outdoor living space.  Fill your hummingbird feeders, hang fall wreaths, and find the perfect pumpkin for your garden.  Consider a pot of Neon Lights Swiss Chard.  It not only makes a colorful flowering pot, but it's also great to eat!

Our annual Christmas Open House makes an earlier than usual arrival this month too. Whatever your needs, make Tom's Thumb your first stop on your fall shopping list.

Natural Garden Pest Control
Ladybugs eating aphids on our milkweed at the nursery

"Pick a pest and you can usually find a natural control for it.
Natural pest control is less expensive than buying and applying pesticides, and it's safer for your garden, your family, the natural wildlife and the environment."

"Each year North American homes use approximately 136 million pounds of pesticides on lawns and gardens, and in the home. In fact, homeowners use about three times the amount of pesticides as farmers. Most wildlife pest poisonings, and most surface water contamination from pesticides, come from single-family homes."

Save Our Citrus
Citrus Greening, also known as Huanglongbing  (HLB), is a devastating disease of citrus.
The  disease affects the production and quality of the  fruit.
There is no cure for greening and the  infected trees eventually die.

Causal Agent
Greening is caused by Candidatus Liberibacter  bacteria transmitted by psyllids.
