Join us after-hours in the library for three events!
Friday, October 13 at 7 pm
Our first after-hours event is a free concert by 1960s-style, folks music duo Hungrytown.  They hail from Vermont and have performed on The Daily Show and Portlandia. Registration is recommended, but not required. 
Friday, October 20 at 6:30 pm
Do you have what it takes? Gather your crew and join us for Trivia Night at the Library! Register your team of up to six people. Drinks and snacks will be available.
Friday, October 27 at 7 pm
We'll be playing a live-acti on game inspired by the works of HP Lovecraft and the board game Arkham Horror. This is a co-operative game in which participants will play a character in the game, working together to try to win. Costumes appropriate to th e early 20th century are encouraged (but not required). This program is for ages 15 an d older and space is limited, so register today!

The Nashua Artists Breakfast Club invites you to attend a reception for their display of small works. Light refreshments will be served.

Starting on October 15th, the Main Library will be open on Sundays from 1-5 pm.  Sunday hours run through May 20th, 2018, the weekend before Memorial Day.  

Thursday, October 19 at 7 pm
Come learn about the history and health benefits of tea and dark chocolate (cacao), with insights from a commercial chocolatier's background. Includes samplings of tea, tea-infused food, various chocolates, and more.

New Book Group!

Always wanted to join a group but couldn't make time during the week? Join us for our new Saturday book group! The first meeting will be held at The Java Room ( 14 Littleton Rd in Chelmsford). We'll discuss a plan for the group, as well as possible titles to read.  

Sunday, October 22 at 2 pm
Kathy Downey, member of Country Lane Garden Club and a practitioner for over 50 years, will go through many of the methods of food preservation, canning, freezing, and drying.

Sunday, October 29 at 2 pm
Experience the art of beer-making from members of the Merrimack Valley Home Brew Club. Please Register online for this program - the workshop includes free beer samples!  

Sunday, November 5 at 2 PM 
Join us for the Friends of the Library's 4th Annual Apple Pie Contest!  If you'd like to strut your baking skills, registration and details are online.  After the official judging, the public is invited to feast on apple pie, donuts, and cider!

This program will highlight young chocolate entrepreneurs, the history of chocolate, and chocolate trivia! You will also get to make & take chocolate treats. 
Register to guarantee your spot; walk-ins welcome if space is available.
Thursday, October 26 at 4 pm
Compete individually or in teams to make the most amazing Halloween-themed cupcake creation! Cupcakes and materials provided (while supplies last). Grades 4-12 and home school teens welcome!

Children up to age 12 are invited to enter our annual Spooky Story Contest! Drop off stories in the Children's Room or the MacKay Branch between October 2nd and October 18th by 9 pm. Be sure to put your name, grade, and phone number on your story.  Visit our website for more information
Winners will be announced at the Spooky Story Celebration on Saturday, October 28 at 4pm. All entrants will receive a prize!

After School Programs
Thursday, October 12 at 4:15 pm 
D esigned for children Grades 2 & 3 (ages 7-9) with no coding experience, this program teaches basic computer science skills without using computers! We'll learn some coding basics through games and play. It's computer science- unplugged!

Read a folktale, do an activity, and create a craft!

Saturday Programs
The Construction Zone: Our LEGO Club is levelin g
up!  The Construction Zone offers a v ariet y  of materials, inc luding LEGO bricks, magnetic tiles, gears, and more. 10:30 am on Oct. 7.  
Our pop ular Dads & Donuts Storytime meets at 10:30 am on the second Saturday of the month. Join us on October 14 for stories, songs, and snacks!  All caregivers welcome.
