Trunk or Treat Festivities!

The Preschool through Eighth Grade students exhibited a fabulous display of costumes and much excitement as they joined in a parade of Trunk or Treat festivities.

What a beautiful day it was for the Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classes to visit Von Thun's Farm!

Grandparents Day

In honor of National Grandparents' Day, Cedar Hill Prep’s Kindergarten children, along with their teachers, held their annual Grandparents' Day Celebration. 

Kindergarten Visits the Assisted Living Residence

The Kindergarten class and their teachers visited their elderly friends at the Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence. 

Visit to Norz Hill Farm

The Kindergartners visited Norz Hill Farm and had a fun-filled day with activities such as a hayride, pumpkin picking, and a farm tour where they got to meet and learn about the farm animals. 

Kindergarten Students Celebrate Diwali!
The children learned that Diwali is a festival of lights celebrated by Hindus all over the world. The Kindergarten children decorated their Diya's and ate delicious samosas. Happy Diwali!

Elementary News
Forces and Motion

Science is a subject best taught with hands on labs. This approach enables the students to better understand the concepts being taught. With this in mind, Third Grade started their first month of school with a Science Lab in Forces and Motion. 

Character Development

To start the school off, 2nd graders have joined together to read books related to character development. Many of the books focus on doing kind things for others.

First Grade Visit to Assisted Living

CHP's First Graders were very excited to visit some wonderful elderly friends at The Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence in Somerset.

House Activities

This year, first and second grade students will eat lunch with their house members weekly and will also be meeting once a month during recess to work on house activities and projects. 

Home of the Free Because of the Brave

The 3rd graders honored our Veterans by creating greeting cards. Thanks to Mrs. Fontaine and her company, our class had the wonderful opportunity to write well wishes and holiday greetings to our country's Veterans through the Red Cross and the VA. 

First and Second Graders Visit to Melick’s Town Farm

October is a beautiful time of year at the farm, as first and second graders discovered this at Melick’s Town Farm in Old Bridge. This working farm grows many varieties of apples and presses them into delicious cider that is sold at local markets.

Fourth Grade Diwali Celebration!

Jiya Suthar and her mother, Mrs. Suthar, shared with Grade 4 some of their Diwali customs. As Diwali is the Festival of Lights, the students had an opportunity to paint traditional ceramic diyas (tea light holders) while Mrs. Gadaleta and Mrs. Yurman used acrylic paints to stencil Rangoli decorations.  

Grade 4 had a boo-ti-ful Halloween Celebration!

Yummy (& healthy!) snacks, a Mummy Wrap contest, some Halloween games and Trunk or Treating made for a fun-filled day!

Grade 5 Trip to Frost Valley 2017

CHP’s Fifth Graders had an opportunity to enrich their education outside of the classroom at Frost Valley in the Catskill Mountains in Claryville, New York. 

Grades 6, 7 and 8 Trip to Baltimore

Grade 6 - 8 spent three days in Baltimore exploring the city’s significant contribution to American history and learning about some of its most notable residents.
Shaurya Baruah Wins Statewide Poetry Contest
Shaurya has been selected as one to the winners in this year’s poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Energy and Sustainability. 
Visiting Students from China
From October 9th – October 11th, the halls of the Middle School building were bustling with excitement as Grades 3, 4, and 5 welcomed 31 visiting students and their teachers from China.

Debate Team Wins Garden State League
Cedar Hill Prep School is participating in two debate leagues this year, the Garden State Debate League and Jersey Shore Debate League. Cedar Hill Prep School won 1st place in both!

Cyber Bullying
Mr. Seeley and Ms. Nan were informed about certain Cyber Bullying incidents involving our students. As you know, Cedar Hill Prep School has a zero tolerance policy about Bullying. We will have a formal event for Parents to help you combat this issue and monitor your child's usage of their devices.

Goodbye to Mrs. Oumama Belkhayet 7/8 Science Teacher
We were sad to say goodbye to Mrs. Oumama Belkhayet . She is in the process of relocating to California due to her husband's job being reassigned. We wish her Good Luck on her next chapter in life!

Good News!
Grade 5/6 Science Teacher - Mrs. Denise Galiano will be back at work starting Monday, November 6th, 2017. As you know she had to take a family leave of absence to take care of her husband's treatment for Stage 4 cancer. He is responding very well to the treatment. Welcome back Mrs.G!

New Faces - Say Hello!
Pre Kindergarten Teacher - Welcome Ms. Kristen Loria as the Pre Kindergarten Teacher. Mrs. Ilene Davidson and Mrs. Kristen Loria will be teaching Pre Kindergarten such that we provide a broader multi-sensory educational platform to the students.

Grade 5/6 Science Teacher - Mr. Oliver Moirot came to us as a long term substitute teacher for Mrs. Galiano. We want him to continue as a Co-Teacher for Grade 5/6 and help Grade 7/8 with Competition Prep and the Science Fair.

Grade 7/8 - Welcome Dr. Wendy Doster as the Grade 7/8 Science Teacher. She just completed her residency in Pediatrics and is in the cross roads of life to readdress her professional direction - Research or Teaching. We are delighted to have her at Cedar Hill Prep School!

The boys and girls Wildcats Soccer teams have shown tremendous heart throughout the season and have really improved. The teamwork and hustle has been amazing, and we have had a fun season!
