Lynd Fruit Farm
K-3 students took a field trip to Lynd's Fruit Farm! During our trip, we rode in a tractor-driven wagon, learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin, listened to the story of Spookley the Square Pumpkin (the official "spokesperson" for PACER's National Bully Prevention Program), enjoyed a sample of Apple Cider, explored the pumpkin patch, and picked our own pumpkin, Indian corn, and gourds!

Look at pictures from our day at Lynd's Fruit Farm!
Circleville Pumpkin Show

VCS had a busy day at The Pumpkin Show! We had our meet-up in the morning, touring the show to see giant pumpkins, Lindsey's pumpkin pie that is 6 ft. in diameter, and the iconic pumpkin tower. VCS first grader, Harley Sparks, competed in Little Miss Pumpkin Show during the first parade. We joined Daryl Wolfe, VCS Director of Information Technology, for the evening parade where his daughter Kayla competed for the title of Miss Pumpkin Show. We are proud to see the spirit of VCS represented at this wonderful community event!
Student Spotlights: Katarina and Keri Bowyer / David Grover
Keri Bowyer started a community service club when she was just in 4th grade, with the help of her sister Kati. Kids Can Do Anything (KCDA) now has  14 members who work hard every year to serve people in the community. "They get together with their ideas in September and vote on projects to do throughout the school year," says Keri and Kati's mom Ronni. "They have done food drives for local food banks, clothing drives, book drives, an annual talent show for a nursing home, caroling and visits at nursing homes, made care packages for cancer patients and collected art supplies for patients at Nationwide Children's Hospital."

Their newest project is raising funds to help a family friend: 6 year old Linleigh who is battling severe spastic quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. They recently organized and held a "fun run" fundraiser and are continuing to raise funds in hopes that the family will be able to get a conversion van and make renovations to their home to accommodate Linleigh.

We are so proud of you, Kati and Keri! Continue accomplishing great things!

VCS student David Grover was recently featured for his participation in the Edible Licking County cooking skills program. We are so proud of you, David! Keep reaching for your dreams of being a master chef or a grill master.
