A PERSONAL NOTE FROM JERRY WAGNER

This publication is new. I’m excited about it. I hope you find it enjoyable, informative and easy to read. Please pass it along to friends and colleagues. This newsletter will also have features that would have formerly been included in Culture Role Models.

WISDOM '17 WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
The WISDOM Retreat in Santa Fe on October 3 and 4, 2017 was more successful than I could have ever imagined. The quality of participants, speakers, and interaction were also beyond expectations. Thanks to everyone. We’ll have several video clips in the following months.

"I have lost count of how many conferences of this type I have attended in my life, and quite frankly I am less than impressed with most of them. This conference was an incredible exception. I could not recommend it more, and whether I speak at the next one or not I plan to be there. Shame on you if I don't see you there."

WISDOM ’18 WEBSITE

The new website is terrific!

Please note, you can hold a seat until it is time to register. If you can’t attend, simply do not register when it is time.
WISDOM ’17 QUICK CLIP S

All speakers at WISDOM ’17 were captured on video. I’m going through all the footage and choosing short and extraordinary bits of wisdom. These are short and take little time to watch. You will love them. Speakers were given their entire footage and they might publish full length. These will start next month.
QUICK CLIPS FROM WORLD CAFÉ SUMMARIES AT WISDOM ’17
At WISDOM ’17 we had a World Café brainstorming session about the retreat’s most important takeaways. These were captured on video and I’m choosing short chunks to share with you. You will love these as well. These videos will also start next month.
SNEAK PEEKS

I am in the process of inviting speakers for 2018 WISDOM. You will be updated as they are confirmed. Meet Hanlie Van Wuk, Head of Applied Behavioral Research and Habit Change at the Behavioral Research and Applied Technology Laboratory (BRATLAB); she will be with us at WISDOM ‘18.
WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CITY CHAPTERS?

See what is new at city chapters including their invitations for upcoming events.
COMPANY CULTURE COUNCILS

I think that Culture Councils or Clubs are going to be a big deal. As I learn about new Clubs, they will be featured here. If you know of a Culture Club please let me know and I’ll feature them.
Let us know if you are interested in starting a club. I would love to help.
JERRY'S OCTOBER TIPS

We know that the pillars of great workplace cultures are explicit values and their supporting behaviors. I think this is one of the best books ever written.
In his new book, Hit Refresh, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella (pictured) explores how he's had to work on his capacity for empathy to change the company's culture. In the book, Nadella doesn't focus on the remarkable story of his climb from middle-class kid in India to head of an American tech giant. Instead, he explores at length, a feeling he's working to cultivate in himself - empathy .
