From the Library Administrator

Behind the scenes, great progress is being made on the library renovation: the framework for the walls of our new computer lab is in place, improvements to the electrical system have been made, and the floor plan of the Children's Library has been opened up in preparation for a Discovery area.
As of October 1 we have a new, open layout in the future Children's Library.

Patrons visiting the library tell us they are looking forward to the refreshed library and are eager to see what changes are being made. Headphones are the new fashion statement in the Adult and Teen Department, especially in the morning. For a look at what's behind the construction walls visit  woodridgelibrary.org/renovation.

We have odds and ends that need to be cleared out as part of our effort to refresh the library. An Odds & Ends Sale will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. Hosted by the Friends of the Library, the sale will include over 120 Blu-ray movies, many audiobooks, DVDs, and a few pieces of framed art. Also, and very special, are two children's table and chair sets - four chairs with each table.
A happy Center Cass student displays her prize, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, which she planned
to share with her sister.

Many young Woodridge patrons stopped at the Woodridge Library information table to spin the prize wheel or guess the number of Hershey Kisses we packed in a prize jar during  the Center Cass School District Community Day held on September 26. It was a beautiful day and the Library was pleased to support the Center Cass Education Foundation.

Library activities continue throughout the month including the 15th Annual Woodridge Art Show (see article below), Teen Read Week and drop-in family storytimes.  We appreciate your patience during the renovation and encourage you to ask for help locating events or materials.

October's Recommended Resource
ProQuest Database: The Wall Street Journal Newspaper
Browse today's articles or search the WSJ's well-indexed database.
The first issue of The Wall Street Journal was four pages long and sold for two cents. Today, the paper is considered the preeminent publication for business news and information on worldwide financial markets. Woodridge Library patrons can browse through The Wall Street Journal's database or access full text articles from the current edition of the newspaper.  Even such items as editorials, editorial cartoons, and letters to the editor from well-known people are indexed and available.

Have your library card's barcode ready and click here to access the Wall Street Journal.

A complete list of online databases and resources available to Woodridge patrons is available through the Online Resources page of woodridgelibrary.org.
