Library Announcements
Monday, October 13, is Columbus Day. While some schools and offices will be closed, the Library will be open its regular hours (9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.). In fact, the Children's Department is having a Brown Bag Movie for children in grades K to 3. Preschoolers may also attend if accompanied by an adult. Bring your own lunch! No registration is required. The movie starts at 11:00 a.m. and will run for about an hour and a half. Title to be announced.
From the Library Administrator
September is always a busy month, and we had a lot going on. This year students from Saint Scholastica visited to work on science fair projects, and residents were able to register to vote thanks to volunteers from the League of Women Voters. Several book displays attracted a lot of attention, including the one featuring Banned Books Week.
Our fall programs have started and storytimes are in full swing. See October Events below for numerous other programs with openings or with registration dates coming up.

West Suburban Community Pantry's Development Director Eric Gardner stopped by to accept a check presented by Children's Library Associate Shireen Tyberg on behalf of the Friends of the Library. The Friends turned tokens earned by children who read books during the Summer Reading Program into a donation of $186.65, which will provide the pantry with:
50 bottles of pancake syrup
50 jars of peanut butter
50 pounds of rice
50 boxes of cereal
52 boxes of macaroni and cheese
Eric thanks the Friends and our generous readers!

The Library participated in Center Cass School District 66 Education Foundation's community event on September 13, which gathered schools, libraries, parents, teachers, and students as well as other local agencies. It was a wonderful opportunity to have children color and guess how many "kisses" were in the jar! The turnout was great and Library representatives Jeanne and Kate had a ball reaching out to so many people.

The Woodridge Town Meeting is on Tuesday, October 2, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. This is an open house and people are encouraged to visit staff and governmental officials. Our librarians will be there demonstrating some of our new services. We would like to see you there! This will be at Bobak's Signature Room. Light refreshments will be served.

October promises to be even busier than September. The 14th annual Woodridge Art show will be up all month. See more information below in the Art Gallery Showing section. Come on in and see us!
