BOCA RATON CITY COUNCIL REVIEWS OPTIONS REGARDING VACANCIES

Based on an executive order by Governor Rick Scott, Mayor Susan Haynie was suspended from office on Friday, April 30, 2018. Therefore, in accordance with the City Charter, Deputy Mayor Scott Singer is the Mayor of the City of Boca Raton.

A public discussion regarding the processes and procedures relating to the office of Mayor was held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 4:30pm. The presentation is available on the City's website.
 
On Monday, May 7, 2018, Mayor Scott Singer will take the oath of office at the City Council Workshop. On Tuesday, May 8, the City Council may vote on a resolution to hold a special election on August 28.
 
The public is welcome to attend or watch the meetings streamed live on the City’s website, and broadcast on Comcast - Channel 20; AT&T U-verse - Channel 99 & Hotwire - Channel 395.

4Ocean CLEANING UP
BOCA RATON CANALS

The City has entered into an agreement with the company 4Ocean to conduct canal cleaning services within the city limits.
 
You may have seen their blue boats out and about in our canals...they started cleaning operations on April 17. In just 2 days, 4Ocean collected 1,280 pounds of garbage! Look for them every Tuesday and Friday.
TEMPORARY WATER DISINFECTION & HYDRANT FLUSHING MAY 6 - 20

To maintain the water quality in the City's water system, the Utility Services Dept. will temporarily modify the disinfection process used by the water treatment facility. Read more about this process and precautions.
NEIGHBORHOOD STREET PAVING PROJECTS

The City’s Engineering Division has been making their way through the City completing pavement resurfacing projects. A number of neighborhoods have been completed or will soon be underway. As part of the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) , the 6.4 million dollar resurfacing projects are on track to be completed by late summer 2018. Check the City's website for information about road closures and projects.

WATERFRONT PARK
RENOVATIONS UPDATE

As part of the initiative to activate the City’s waterfront parks, several projects are underway as consultants fine tune the concepts for the Wildflower and Lake Wyman Parks. The Lake Wyman & Rutherford Parks Restoration and the Hillsboro El Rio Park are already in the design phase and are incorporating concepts from public outreach meetings. Construction for Hillsboro El Rio Park is scheduled to begin in early 2019 and construction for Lake Wyman and Rutherford is expected to begin in 2020. Waterfront park project updates can be found on the City's website.
