IMPACT 2015:  Career Tech Education through FCS is the must attend conference for all FCS teachers.  Big changes are happening throughout all of FCS including moving to courses and new courses offerings.  Don't be the one teacher left out of knowing all the current changes in FCS programming.  

Special guest speakers this year include Sandy Spavone National Director for FCCLA and Dr. Nancy Franz on presenting the professional image of FCS.

Breakout sessions will include subject matter specialists to fine tune your content knowledge and technology sessions to add new techniques to your teaching strategies.

Barbara Hummer wins James H. Maynard Excellence in Education Award

 

Ohio ProStart? Teacher Barbara Hummer of Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is one of two educators in the nation to win the prestigious James H. Maynard Excellence in Education Award given by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) and Golden Corral.  Hummer was awarded a plaque and prize of $5,000 on May 14 in Chicago along with Nathaniel Bradshaw from Connecticut.  For more information.

Culinary - We re Looking for instructors to serve on the FCCLA Culinary Task Force.  We will meet in early June to discuss competition procedures and review current Ohio only Competitive Events.  Please submit your interest and questions to Mary Jo Kohl at Maryjo.kohl@education.ohio.gov by June 1, 2015.  At this time there should be only one face to face meeting with additional meetings held virtually.

Ohio FCCLA Endowment Contest May 1 to May 31, 2015

The FCCLA Endowment Foundation needs the help of Ohio FCCLA members and their families, advisers and friends of Ohio FCCLA.  We are eligible and have the opportunity to win $10,000, $5,000 or $2,500 for the FCCLA Endowment by just clicking "Like". A contest photo album is being created on the Facebook Page of the Lorain County Community Foundation, the group who invests our endowed dollars.  So from May 1st to May 31st, we need everyone to visit the site and click in the photo album for Ohio FCCLA.  Please watch your newsletter for links so you can happily click away to "like" the site or you may also search for Lorain County Community Foundation. FCCLA at the Ohio State Fair

Calling all FCCLA Members and Advisers! You are invited to participate at the Ohio FCCLA booth during the Ohio State Fair, July 29 - August 9, 2015.  Each participating chapter will receive a day parking pass, free admission and lunch tickets. 

  

We are looking for one chapter to provide one adviser and four members to participate each day.  The booth will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and chapters are asked to report at 8:30 A.M. to the Lausche building. 

 

Chapter volunteers will supervise an interactive community service project sponsored by Ohio FCCLA as well as educate visitors on the importance of Family and Consumer Sciences education.  If you are interested or would like more information please contact Kelly Jung at Kelly.Jung@education.ohio.gov

Ohio State Fair Heartland Cuisine Cooking Demonstration

America Dairy Association is recruiting students that are interested in giving cooking demonstration of dairy recipes at the Ohio State Fair.  

Attached is the submission form to be completed and follow instructions on the from to submit your entry

 

Participants will be reimburse up to $50 for supplies.  Time slots will be filled in order of receipt of submission forms.
