Culinary Seminar for Teachers and Students
I hope all of you are off to a great start this school year.  I am planning an awesome culinary seminar for students and teachers with The Culinary Institute of America and Chef 2 Chef Foods for Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Chef 2 Chef Foods Warehouse in Cleveland.  Attached are the details, itinerary and registration.

We are going to limit the amount of attendees to 125 people. This will be based on when payment is received.  Please e-mail me back ( tmichitsch@lcjvs.net) if you are interested along with the number of students so I have an idea of how many people could be attending from your school.  If you are not interested please e-mail me as well.
Mary Jo Kohl from the Ohio Department of Education will be onsite to offer CEU's to the teachers as well as answer any questions pertaining to the Culinary Task Force, courses, and curriculum.
OhioMeansJobs K-12 Reporting Tools
The newest resource available to support career advising in Ohio schools with Reporting Tools and educators can review Backpacks for an individual student as well as create group reports.  This new feature will better inform instruction and advising as educators better understand each student's aspirations, interests, and strengths.
Online and in-person training will begin September 10, 2015. Registration is available through STARS, Ohio Department of Education's Professional Development System.  Search "reporting tools" to view all training dates.

Classroom Resources
Dibble Institute
The Dibble Institute has developed a resource page for FACS teachers. It's full of all our sample lessons, research and evaluations, brochures, movie guides, and FCCLA resources. Enjoy!
The Federal Reserve is often in the news, yet few Americans understand "The Fed's" role in our economy. I wanted to let you know about a great teaching resource that educators can get without cost. You order from the link above to provide your mailing address and the kit arrives.

Order Forms
New this year
Ohio FCCLA is establishing policies for members and advisers to participate in the Program.  Areas of coverage are voluntary participation, identification of risks, assumption of risks, releases and waivers, consent to medical treatment, publication, severability, and applicable law. The Liability and Consent form must be completed by each member. The signed releases are to be kept on file with the adviser as you travel and participate in events.
This form should be handed out with any other consent forms at the beginning of the year.  You do not have to send Ohio FCCLA a copy.  The signed releases are to be kept on file with you as you travel and participate in events.  If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Jung at Kelly.jung@education.ohio.gov or Mary Jo Kohl at maryjo.kohl@education.ohio.gov.
The Annual Teacher Acknowledgement and Certification of Compliance is required of each adviser to submit annually to Ohio FCCLA by October 30th. This document encourages the success of the members in the Awards programs including competitive events. The document may be submitted electronically at OhioFCCLA@education.ohio.gov. If you have any questions, please contact Kelly Jung at Kelly.jung@education.ohio.gov or Mary Jo Kohl at maryjo.kohl@education.ohio.gov.
Regional Restructure
Ohio FCCLA Regions have been condensed to four regions which will host the Competitive Events. The National affiliation system reflects the new regions. Career Development Event dates and locations will be announced in October at the Adviser Professional Development Track during Fall Leadership Training.
Chapter Adviser Summit
Mark your calendars for FCCLA's new Chapter Adviser Summit! This pilot meeting will provide chapter advisers the opportunity to network with other instructors, develop professional skills, learn about national updates, and gain some fresh ideas to take back to the FCCLA chapter.  The first summit will take place October 30 - November 1, 2015.  The second summit February 19-21, 2015 in Reston, Virginia. Registration cost for attendance is $65, and attendees will be lodging at the Embassy Suites Dulles Airport for $99 a night.  For more information click here and keep watching FCCLA's Fast Facts newsletter.
Affiliation System Tips
If an existing chapter adviser (adviser in the system last year) has moved schools, that adviser can be added to the chapter by clicking on the Chapter Adviser(s) tab and selecting the black Choose Existing Adviser button. This will display a list of all chapter advisers in the state and will allow the chapter or state adviser to move any existing adviser to the current chapter. If a chapter adviser is no longer active in the current chapter, please make the adviser inactive by clicking on the blue check mark under the Status column.

Do you have chapter advisers having difficulty remembering the password from the previous year? Please direct chapter advisers to use the Forgot Password link on the home page of the affiliation website. Once an adviser has logged in to the chapter, the password can be changed by clicking on the Chapter Adviser(s) tab and editing the password for the individual adviser.
2015-2016 Competitive Events Guide
