Competition details were shared during the recent consortium call. To recap, students will have the opportunity to design and build robots to win recognition and awards totaling $50,000, in addition to working on cutting edge technology that could shape the future of manufacturing for years to come.

WIOA Draft Rules and Regulations Embed Industry Standards and Certifications

The U.S. Departments of Labor and Education released what they coined as the "next step in shaping a new generation of workforce and education strategies" with the release of the proposed rules implementing the Workforce Investment Opportunities that Congress passed last July with overwhelming bipartisan support.

The American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) Workforce Development Institute 2017 (WDI) continues to be a pre-eminent opportunity for in-depth exchanges and networking for economic and workforce leaders at community colleges and their partners. Ohio TechNet is designed to transform the way in which higher education works with employers to better align education and training with industry needs for Advanced Manufacturing in Ohio. The goals and strategies of Ohio TechNet are to better identify businesses' most pressing needs, align and accelerate training programs to fill the skills gap, and support transformation of the state's workforce delivery system.
Ohio TechNet launched in 2014 via a $15 million TAACCCT grant made to LCCC on behalf of a statewide consortium of 11 Ohio community colleges including Columbus State, Cincinnati State, Tri-C, Eastern Gateway, Lakeland, LCCC, Owens, Rhodes, Stark State, Sinclair and Zane State.
