This Week at Your Library: January 22

Classical Guitar and Flute Concert this Sunday!

Dear Library Member,

As part of our ongoing quest to offer special cultural events to you, the Library will host a concert by accomplished local flutist Marjorie Koharski and classical guitarist Keith Calmes on Sunday, Jan. 28th at 2:30pm.   They will present a classical concert featuring works by Debussy, Haydn, Galles and Meranger. This program is generously funded by the Indo-American Senior Citizens Association of Old Bridge
Marjorie Koharski is a retired flutist with the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra, an active flutist with The Elysion Winds Quintet and a former faculty member of The Monmouth Conservatory of Music.  She is also the founder and director of The Festive Flutes, a semi-professional flute choir.
Keith Calmes has been performing and teaching guitar for over three decades.  He is on the music faculty at Wall High School and at The Monmouth Conservatory of Music. If possible, we ask a ttendees to bring a non-perishable donation to the Old Bridge Food Pantry to this free concert.
In recognition of this week's school midterm exams, we have planned several Exam Cram initiatives. From Tuesday through Thursday from           5-8:30pm, we'll have our large meeting room available to teens to provide a quiet space to study alone or with a small group of friends. In addition, we'll offer a midterm Therapy Dog Session on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Studies have shown that interacting with dogs increases a person's level of oxytocin, a stress-relieving hormone. Lowering stress can help students better focus and improve exam performance. Another fun event planned is our Stress-relief Storytime for Teens on Wednesday at 7:30pm.   Take this opportunity to revisit your inner child as we join together and enjoy some shared stories.

Have a spectacular week. Hope to see you at the Library!
