Buffalo is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the high tech arena, and has even been dubbed the "new Silicon Valley" by some.  We have one of the first US-based electronic tablet manufacturers, numerous high-tech start-up companies on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and in the numerous small business incubators, and the nation's largest solar energy provider developing the world's largest solar panel manufacturing facility - and that's not even half of what Buffalo has to be excited about!

Here at McGuire Development, we're proud to have our small part in helping Buffalo grow into its new identity as a world leader in advanced technology and manufacturing through the construction of BAK USA's global headquarters on the fifth floor of Compass East.

BAK USA is one of the first companies in the US to manufacture low-cost Android-based tablet PCs and cell phones.  The company plans to sell their products to educational and government markets in Africa as well as locally in the United States.  They have already had significant interest from a number of countries and organizations in Africa, and will be well on their way when they begin manufacturing in December.

Compass East

Our team has had the pleasure of working with JP and Ulla Bak on their latest entrepreneurial venture.  They have already had significant success in a similar venture in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  The Baks are dedicated to employing a diverse workforce, including minorities and refugees from our surrounding community.  Every employee will assemble each tablet in its entirety, taking ownership of the manufacturing process, rather than working on an assembly line.

It's exciting to see Buffalo's renaissance develop in front of us each day.  BAK USA is just one piece of this new and intriguing industry.
