On Sunday, August 28th, Camp Rising Sun Red Hook suffered severe damage resulting from Hurricane Irene. Twelve large trees fell, one hitting the roof of the Kibo An. The access to the bridge that leads to the Council Fire has been washed away, as has the new pathway on Tent Hill and areas of the driveway between the Old House and ED Hall. Unfortunately it is still raining in NY and it will be a few weeks before we can fully determine the extent of the damage and the cost of repairs.
One of the challenges of leadership is to meet problems head on. That's what our campers learn at CRS. We are taking action to rebuild and repair our camp. In true CRS tradition, we expect it to be better than ever in the end. Click here to read more and see photos from camp. |

On the last day of camp, sixty new alumni became donors to LAJF when every Red Hook camper made a cash donation in support of CRS 2012.
That's 100% participation!
Red Hook 2011 is the only camp year that currently holds that distinction. The future of CRS looks bright!
